Anyone connected the new usb-c mbps to a non-tb apple cinema display, or to other display with dp/mdp yet? I'm currently using the dell via a dp-mdp cable. Trying to figure what connectors I'll need. According to Apple, the tb3-tb2 dongle doesn't support dp monitors even though the connectors might be correct. was wondering the google dp to usb-c cable will work.

I'm connecting my 13 touch bar to a dell p2415q 4K screen using a cheap Amazon USB-c to display port cable. Works perfectly.

Can you share the amazon link?

This is very strange, when I click on the link in my amazon receipt, it goes to a USB-c to DP adaptor, where as I ordered and received an actual cable, not adaptor.

If you Google around for a USB-c to DP cable that supports alternate mode you should be fine, like this one.

Accell U188B-006B USB-C to DisplayPort Cable for Type-C Devices - 6 Feet (1.8 Meters), 4K UHD 3840×2160 @ 60Hz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CKJPTOU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_uqAlybR583NB6

Great questions.... I have one for the group. I have two Dell p2415q 4K monitors. I have them daisy chained. I connected them to my new 15" MacBook Pro with a USB-C to Display Port cable both monitors are in Mirror mode while my MacBook built in acted as the second monitor. Nothing is setting would change this option. I want to be able to use all three monitor as separate screens. I am in my doctoral program and three screens would be very helpful. It is the main reason I bought the new MacBook. Will I need to buy a second USB-C to Display Port cable and plug into the other side of the computer and not daisy chain them together? I have searched but cannot find an answer. Thank you so much for any insight you have!

Edit: The daisy chain between the two monitors is display port > mini display port as that is what came with the monitors. Thanks!

You have to buy a second USB-C to DP cable. DisplayPort daisy-chaining does not work with MacOS, only with Windows.

Great thank you for the help!!!! Then I am glad we have 4 USB-C's on these things! . I placed an order for one already early this morning thinking that might be the case. Once a reasonable docking station comes out next year, I will look into getting one, but I have spent enough money this year. LOL It will be nice to have the extra monitors for my research documents while I write my dissertation and other assignments. (And yes, I am playing around with the touch bar).

Have a great day!
