2019 iPhones Won't Have 'iPhone' on the Back According to So-Called Foxconn Worker

Dropping the highly-visible word mark doesn't mean this won't still be an "iPhone." Apple in fact has done that before, dropping the "iMac" word mark from the iMac without changing the name. At a certain point, we know what the product is, and the overall appearance is cleaner without the mark. That's reason enough.
Still, I agree with others that a change to "Apple Phone" is not impossible, as it's now among the last holdouts from the company's "i" branding, and the "internet" emphasis underlying that "i" seems rather outdated at this point. Still, I would have expected that change to happen next year, on what is rumored to be a redesigned phone.
Guess we'll find out soon enough . . . .

It took a few years but Apple finally got the 'Pro' moniker on the iPhone. Tim and Phil must be so happy.
What are people doing with 1TB of memory on their phones? Shooting the next Planet Earth series in 4k from their iPhone? Genuinely curious.
Don't stop there, every Apple Mac would have at least 4 Apple Cores and you could use lots of Apple Bytes to practice your Apple S.T.E.M. studies in school. Rename the covers Apple peels and for goodness sake rename it Apple pearing just to get a new fruit into the mix. If your product is stolen it would be Apple Jacked. And the list goes on ... Apple Chips, Apple (your ideas here)
I'd argue Apple TV and Apple Card are closer to services than hardware products. I take your point though, I just don't think it'll happen with iPhone.
Most people put their phone in a case. Also Apple took branding off its macbooks in the past so this isn't really that big of a deal. The design of Apple products speak for themselves in 2019.
In Apple's defence, if they do such a thing:

We are removing something - this is in line with our minimalist philosophy and hey, we always remove some things, tangible or intangible, from our devices, be it connectivity ports or letters from our brand. We have done this before with Mac OS X becoming a petite macOS. In short, we always do courageous things, including jacking up prices to insane levels.

In a way, that would be a really interesting move if they did do that. I think for those who don’t read sites like this, and are looking at purchasing a ‘used’ 2019 iPhone, that could be something that may appear counterfeit to them without it saying ‘iPhone’ if they were unknowing of the change made. Counterfeiters would just love this alteration made.
Since this is iPhone XSS, it will be the only external sign that this is not the previous device. Sort of how they changed the reflectiveness of the iPhone lettering from the 3G to the 3GS, or put an S just below the name on the 6S.

This was exactly my thought with iPhone being removed. Because it's no longer an iPhone. It's an Apple Phone and Apple Phone Pro. With "iPhone 11" just being a place holder.
Obviously, I am just speculating for the fun of it. iPhone is, as you say, very recognizable. But it's also becoming a "tired" brand.
If this is true then coupled with a more efficient chip they could do a hard sell on significant battery improvements.
