2020 iPad Pro owners: If you could pay $100 to upgrade from the A12z to the M1 chip… would you?

  • Heck no! Total waste of $$$ as the A12z is still plenty fast to last me for years until I upgrade.

  • Absolutely, $100 is well worth it for possibly an additional year of iOS support + the added speed.

For the 2020 iPad Pro crew: If you could pay Apple $100 to upgrade your CPU from the A12z to the M1 chip… would you? 🤔

Wasn’t sure if you pay the $$$ to possibly have another year of longevity and slightly faster speeds, or would it be a waste of money and you feel the A12z is more than fast enough to last the next 4-5 years without your iPad Pro breaking a sweat.

Thanks for your replies 🙂

We all gotta be honest... half of us would pay $100 to apple to reprogram the software in our iPad and tell us we have an M1 so that we sleep better at night, because instragram can only scroll so fast. :D

I'd actually be perfectly fine with the A12 or A14. Those would probably offer better battery life.

I've followed the Apple SoCs evolve so I view the M1 as evolutionary rather than revolutionary. An A14X/Z with different branding if you will.

Mind, I've visited webpages with infinite scroll (why, oh, why?) and with those, I just pray I can get to the content I need before the page crashes due to running out of memory.

Yes, I would definitely take the upgrade.

No. I will not pay $100 to change to M1. A12Z is more than enough for the present. I will use the $100 for future iPad Pro upgrade.
