I am choosing between the 21.5 inch 3.06 GHz base model and the 21.5 inch 3.2 GHz model, the only games I will be playing are flight sims.......x plane 9.....x plane 10 when it arrives and maybe use windows to play some other games. Will the 21.5 inch base model allow me to play x plane 9 with all graphic settings set to the highest level or would I have to buy the 21.5 inch 3.2GHz with the bigger graphics card (512mb) to do that? any advice would be great! thanks,

The 3.2GHz machine will be significantly better in games. It's not the VRAM that'll make the difference, it's the fact that it's got a 5670 graphics chip rather than a 4670 one. It's roughly twice as powerful.

I really doubt that you would be able to run X-Plane 9 with all graphic settings at the highest level with either of those computers.

My Hackintosh with a quad Core i7, 6 GB RAM, video card with 1 GB VRAM and Snow Leopard runs it great at the highest settings. My frame rate is sometimes over 300 in sparse areas, but over a large city, the rate will drop to 25 for a short time. Just for reference, if the frame rate drops below 19, a dialog box pops up indicating that your frame rate is too low. I experienced that with my Core2Duo 2.8GHz Hack running Leopard.

I almost forgot, I am driving a 23 inch HD monitor at 1920 by 1080 setting with everything, including X-Plane 9.

But, X-Plane 9 still works great if you use lower settings. You just need to experiment to find the sweet spot.

X-Plane 10 is well on it's way to reality. It will really take advantage of the new Core i3 through i7 processors.

I can hardly wait to see x plane 10. As good as x plane 9 is, x plane 10 will be out of this world.
