Apple Adds Now-Discontinued iPhone 7 Models to Clearance Site

Following the launch of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, Apple has discontinued the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

Remaining iPhone 7 and 7 Plus stock has been listed on Apple's clearance site, where the models will be available at a discounted price until leftover supplies are exhausted.

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are available for all carriers and in unlocked versions in both 32 and 128GB capacities. The iPhone 7 starts at $399 for 32GB of storage, while the iPhone 7 Plus starts at $499 for 128GB of storage.

At this time, jet black is the only available color, but Apple may add additional models to the site in the future.

At a starting price of $399, the iPhone 7 is not much more affordable than the iPhone 8, which Apple is continuing to sell at a lower price. The iPhone 8 is priced at $449 for 64GB of storage, while iPhone 8 Plus pricing starts at $549.

Apple's iPhone lineup now includes the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus.

They've been selling the 3 most recent models since at least the 4S-4-3GS (A5-A4-preA4) how is 11-XR-8 (A13-A12-A11) any different except they've got more choices at each level now? The smartphone market is different now than it was in 2011, there's more choice and they have to try to reach different people with varying priorities.

I agree they should bring back the iPhone 3G and sell it for $50 dollars. That would bring a lot more people aboard. Who cares about having a bloated lineup, it’s not like that’s what gave Apple hardships pre-Jobs return era...

This is true. But back in 2016 when the iPhone 7 was released, it was the top of the line model. The iPhone 8 was simply a cheaper alternative to the more premium X. Some people even saw it as more of a replacement to the SE.

What fragmentation? Selling another 30 million devices over a few years into an existing installed base of 80 million is pretty much the opposite of fragmentation. You’re boosting the quantity of iPhones for any given already in the market, making that model more likely to stay relevant to developers.

I wish fair well to my matte black iPhone 7. It put up quite a lot even though it stated showing its age a few months ago, let alone battery capacity. I opted not to get the 2019 iPhones so I went with the Xr. The battery life on this thing is pretty good, leaving me with around 45% in the evening. Compared to the 7 which already needed a recharge by 4pm. Hopefully Apple releases more matte finishes on future iPhones.

The X is not relevant to the fact that the 8/8 Plus are much better models than the 7/7 Plus. The $449 iPhone 8 has twice the storage, an A11 and a bunch of other advantages over the 7. It’s a better deal than than 7 at $399.

I owned the 7 Plus in Gold. Outstanding phone. The stereo speakers and haptic home button were my favorite features. Plus, it was the last year for the aluminum casing, which I really liked.

That may be the case, but for a family of 3, in 2 years I’m not spending $2400 (@$800) on stupid phones when $1350 (@450) will do the job just fine.

Back in December of last year. Cricket Wireless, an AT&T owned MVNO, was offering iPhone 7's for US$149.00.

There were, of course, conditions. The phone was locked to Cricket, it could not be used on any other network at time of purchase. After six months you could have it unlocked. But it would only work on AT&T and MVNO's running on AT&T's network. It might have also worked on T-Mobile.

The point of this is that Apple uses its supply channel partners to offer iPhones at every pricing tier.
