I see the max resolution for an external display on this model is 2560 x 1600, and I'm looking to purchase a 27" monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution. Connection on the monitor is Dual Link DVI.

This laptop has the 9600M GT with 256MB. Would a Display Port to DVI-D cable run this monitor at 2560 x1440?

Sorry for the n00b questions. Don't want to buy the wrong thing.

I'm 99% sure you need a dual link DVI display adapter.

I'm almost positive you can only use monitors above 1920x1200 if they have a native minidisplayport, such as the 27" Cinema Display.

Isn't the cable I linked Dual Link? Says so in the description.

Would like to know more about the max resolution being 1920 x1200 without the Display Port on the monitor. Have not read that until now.
