Acually this is a software issue. Apple thought that you can damage your drive by burning and moving with the laptop at the same time so they loweder the speed.

Look at my two post attachments. Look at the buring speed difference.

I dont think a gyro sensor would be as cost effective and just plain effective as a more stable drive in which to burn in, perhaps one that holds onto the entire back of the disk.
