Just had a question in regards to the Verizon $30 upgrade fee. Will I be charged at the time of the purchase of my iPhone 5 the $30 upgrade fee? or is the fee added to my monthly bill?

Depends on where you buy it. When I preorderd from Verizon it was added to the charge for the phone, so it was charged up front. When I preordered from Apple it was not so I presume it will be on the bill.

I had them add it to the monthly bill...I'm pretty sure this is the 'default' option.

I preordered at full retail from Verizon and was not charged at the sale OR on the next bill.

You didn't use an "upgrade"

Oops forgot to clarify, I did pay the $200 upgrade price. There is no way I'd pay the full $600+ price for the phone :p.

Ok I copied and pasted the following from the order details form. Not sure what the "new every two" means. Maybe every two years I get a free upgrade credit?

Apple iPhone 5 16GB White 1 $199.99
Line Number: [not giving you my phone #]
UPGRADE FEE $30.00
Discount - New every two -$30.00

Order Subtotal Today $ 199.99
Sales Tax* $ 12.00
Shipping $ 0.00

You were charged, you just had a discount to subtract it. I had a $50 NE2, but was also charged the fee, so I got the phone for $179

Does the new every two apply to everyone?

It was originally to "reward" loyalty from customers by giving you a slight discount for each time you completed a two year contract. They recently decided they couldn't care less about loyalty from customers and took it away and added this upgrade fee (which PENALIZES returning customers)

I'm still at a lost on why there is this stupid charge. Your eligible for a new phone under what they claim as your upgrade date, meaning you can upgrade and not break your contract. I could understand if you were upgrading EARLY but not on what they claim is your scheduled date..

Fore the record, I just paid this $30 for 3 lines ($90) plus losing my unlimited data when ordering my iPhone 5 this morning :(

(cue hippy voice) Its the man, man :p

So they can nickel and dime us with bs charges like that.
I never paid an upgrade fee, I just call them and have them credit it back.

What's the "NE2" discount? Is that only for current customers?

See below
