You have got to be kidding me. Is ICE or the the Obama administration going to get into any trouble over this one? I assume Obama will have no repercussions as usual, but someone has to answer for this?

The administration doesn't matter, but accountability does.

Someone has to be held accountable. Illegals need to be deported fast. Especially when talking violent offenders. Dragging our feet on deportations does the nation no good.

"The releases required by court decisions account for a disproportionate number of the serious crimes listed in the report. For example, mandatory releases account for over 75% of the homicides listed," the statement said. "Others, typically those with less serious offenses, were released as a discretionary matter after career law enforcement officers made a judgment regarding the priority of holding the individual, given ICE's resources, and prioritizing the detention and removal of individuals who pose a risk to public safety or national security."
Want more holding room? Get ready to pay more taxes, conservatives!

Why do we always hear this when it is an Obama failure? That and the Bush did it first lines.

Has anyone in this administration been held accountable for anything? When was the last time someone was fired in this administration?

Don't know. Registered independent here, and accountability is great because it transcends party. Or at least it should.

I have no use for hacks.

What is this thread about?

Is it about the 36,000 convicts or making fun of liberals/Obama?

If they show up for the deportation hearing, what are the odds of that?
Agreed. But I'm not all that concerned about people working hard in Chinese restaurants and picking fruit in San Diego. Some guy that works a food cart for 15 hours a day to support his family in a respectable fashion deserves some latitude.

Illegals that are involved in any aspect of the drug trade, gangs, or violence should be deported within 48 hours or sent to Guantanamo to await the legal process to determine their fate. Just get them outside our borders.

This I agree with, as long as due process is not skipped.

In my own world
I am not sure why you think they are undocumented. Are you aware for example that there are individuals who are fully documented and been in the US since they were three years old who commit a crime and get deported at end of sentence. In many cases these people end up back in a country where they know no one have no relatives and are complete strangers.
I don't give a crap where they end up. We have enough home grown criminals. If they come here, they should be prepared to follow the laws or go back where they came from.

Generally it's because we're trying to lend a broader perspective to outraged conservatives by pointing out that Obama did not invent or originate these policies.

But it rarely works ... trying to impart some sense of perspective.

Partisan outrage normally wins out.

By the same token, why do we always see so much seething outrage over things Obama has done, that have been done repeatedly for decades by numerous others, even things that are standard.

Surely, it's not an agenda at all. So what is it?

For some reason this won't download. When I try Google, I get hundreds of right wing sites, but, cbsnews is the only "mainstream" mention, and, it won't download. Maybe someone has another pointer to the story?
Go to http://www.cbsnews.com and in the search area type in 36000. I is currently the first one on the list.

And you will see it more on the conservative sites as the more liberal ones prefer not to write about things that will make the left look bad.

But, actually, my browser's security settings disallow whatever cbsnews.com is trying to do, so, it isn't loading.

Perhaps the story will show up somewhere else.

Dump them back to the country they came from.
What about due process?

I have to say I'm not against the deportation of criminals after the end of their sentence. We do it here - http://www.prisonersadvice.org.uk/DOCS/INFORMATION/FOREIGNNATIONALS.pdf
