At most they'll go to 4.3", I think. Taller one year, let the developers get used to it, then 2 years later, or if they abandon the 'S' next year and go straight to the 6, they may the widen it. So all developers have to do then is make apps a little wider.

I think Apple marketed it as "just right" as it's here to stay. They can't make screens much more bigger without making them a tablet. Anything much over 4" especially width proves hopeless to use as a phone.

I firmly believe Apple will stick to a 4" format for 3 - 5 years atleast.

So you think 4.3" is hopeless to use as a phone.

Here we go again with comparing a slightly larger phone to a jumbo jet.

Seriously! Thats the problem with people who don't know how to have a discussion. Instead of comparing the advantages/disadvantages of two realistic products (3.5" vs 4.3" phones) then they rely on going to the extremes to validate their point (4" vs 7" phablets).

When I was in line reserving my iPhone 5 at Best Buy then many of the people around me were playing with the Android 4-4.5" screens and talking about how they aren't as big as they thought. And thats not an uncommon reaction from Apple users. Many people out here claim how "4.3in is unpocketable" or "if they didn't go 16:9 we couldnt use it with one hand", but if they actually held one of these devices they'd realize that it doesn't start getting "uncomfortably oversized" until you start hitting 4.5-4.8" sizes.

Apple didnt go with a bigger screen. Thats fine. But lets not pretend that IF iOS existed on anything bigger than 4" 16:9 then it wouldnt work.

Why would apple not give us more choices? I don't see anything wrong with offering a 4 inch "one-hand" screen, and then offering something bigger for people who choose it. It would allow them to compete with andriod's varying choices.

This one-handed stuff is a bit overrated anyway - because you could simply alter the software to have the keyboard anchored to the right or left of the screen. It would be the same width as the current iphone keyboard with more screen space behind it. Bigger screen, yet still able to type with your thumb. Sometimes "innovation" doesn't mean stubborness. Just give us some customizibility and you can go far.

That feature is in the Note2. I thought it was a pretty good idea since you're more likely to be typing something rather than tapping the top left/right edge of the screen.

I wish the iP5 had went 4.3" also

I'm finding my S3 just fine to use one handed with a 4.8" screen and my hands are average sized at best for an adult American male. Probably on the smaller side of average.

The 5 inch plus "phablets" like the Galaxy Note are definitely not meant for one handed use.

Apple has a highly skilled engineering staff. It's not that they can't figure it out, it's that Apple has restricted them to the current 4.0" size.

After all, Apple has spent years convincing their followers that Apple knows what's best for them. That they (the customer) are less than capable of deciding for themselves. It's the very thread of control Apple has spent years weaving through their minions.

Conversely, their are all sizes of Androids being sold, yet you see what the masses have chosen as their preferred screen size. It averages between 4.3" and 4.8". Freedom of choice tells a completely different story than Apples followers do. The followers simply quote Apple without a second thought.

Oh give me break. Also, what choices are you talking about? Name a flagship (read: non-******), Android phone that isn't hovering around 4.8 inches. Sure I have the "freedom" to move down to a 4.3 inch screen, but at the cost of a quality screen, processor, and other ways to gimp their phones.

The only reason I'm going with the iPhone for this contract is I HATE the giant phone trend. 4.3 inches was perfect, but if no one is going to release a flagship phone at that size, I'd rather go smaller than bigger.

There's no need to provide you with further info. You've already made up your mind, even though you are unfamiliar with the wide range of display sizes available on Android phones. Choices can be a foreign concept for some. It's only a phone.

Yeah, it is only a phone, so why do you troll these forums 24/7 saying that anyone who buys an iPhone is immediately an idiot fanboy?

And I'm waiting. Name me a good Android phone that isn't hovering at 4.8 inches. My choice is to have a non-giant phone. My current Galaxy Nexus is much too big, but I prefer the OS to iOS.
