Today I was shopping at Best Buy to upgrade the RAM in my newly acquired MacBook. I was in the Apple display section and noticed they had some Kingston RAM. It was 1GB stick for $99.
Then I went over into the computer section of the store and they had some PNY RAM. It was a pack of 2GB (2 X 1GB Sticks) for $52.
I took both packages over to the Apple salesman and asked him if these two RAM were the same and if the PNY would work in the MacBook.
He said, Yes. Don't pay any attention to the more expensive Kingston RAM. Just get the PNY and it will work fine.
Kind of surprising actually. He didn't even give me speech about how the Kingston RAM was "Apple Certified".
It was refreshing to see this and I'm happy to report that my MacBook is working just fine with the PNY sticks.
