I'm trying to hook up my MacBook Pro to my Asus PB27UQ. I don't need it to display at 4K, but it won't connect at all.

Is my MacBook able to output to this monitor at all? I've connected to the monitor's DisplayPort. There are also HDMI ports, but I'll have to go and buy more cables. My mouse can move to the other screen, but theres no display. It also seems to make my MacBook freeze when the cable is plugged in.

The error is "Display Port No Signal. Switch to DP 1,1 by source hot key if PC is working." Not sure what that means, but I have switched to DisplayPort 1.1 and 1.2 via the monitor controls, but it still says no signal.

What kind of cable did you use?

I'll -guess- that something "isn't quite right" about the cable you're using.

The "right cable/adapter" should do the job.

Unfortunately, ascertaining which cable "is right" is getting harder to do !

I see. Thanks for that. Thankfully if its the cheapest component that's the problem (not the MacBook or monitor) then I can get it replaced easily. I'll give it a go. Cheers.

DisplayPort has two different protocol versions. v1.1 and v1.2
I would toggle the display to see, whether it makes a difference. On my Mac Pro with EFI flashed Radeon 7970, EFI mode Boot Screen is only v1.1. If I want to see that, I need to use the hidden toggle on my Dell UW38 - depress the DP Select for 10s to bring up the dialog.
I use USB-C for connecting my MacBook Pro 2018 and that works fine.
