MP 1,1-5,1 5.1 on Mojave... why is activity monitor showing 12 cores when I have 6?

Yes, and why would you want to? You can disable hyper-threading, and its actually done by some people because of vulnerabilities discovered recently, but its not likely those vulnerabilities will affect most end users.

This implies that this isn't the default. Activity monitor on all Macs shows the number of threads, not the number of cores.

Plus why do you need to monitor what the threads are doing?

While your at it you better take out half your ram to free up those slots........ 🤪
