Let's see... The five inventions that have changed my life...
1: The microwave oven. I hate having to cook, so anything that speeds up the process is great in my book.
2: PDAs. Far more than iPods or cell phones. I used to carry a small address book in my wallet, and a lot of scraps of paper with all kinds of notes. Now, all that junk is in the trash, replaced with a single electronic device that hangs off of my belt. And as an added bonus, I have installed several e-books and games.
3: Pay-at-the-pump. Not having to deal with incompetant gas station attendants has done a lot to improve my sanity. Not to mention that it's a bit faster, since I don't have to wait behind everybody else on line.
4: VCRs. Especially timer-recording. I don't have to adjust my schedule to the whims of the TV networks in order to watch what I want to watch. PVRs do the same thing even better, but I don't own one of them so they haven't affected my life yet.
5: Broadband and the internet. All the information in the world (much of it incorrect, sadly) at my fingertips, available 24/7. And at speeds where even things like videos are useable.
While I'm sad that the iPod fell in place behind the zipper, you folks are missing the point of the article. Cell phones and computers are huge inventions with massive infrastructures build to support them. Items that this article describes are seeming insignificant inventions that we overlook, but are nonetheless a huge part of our lives.
6 on Top will be released soon. I had a chance to use this concept and it will change the way we look at time. Time is one of our most precious commodities and this invention will change the way we manage it.
