Is this war ever going to end?
The war will end when some common sense infiltrate the impenetrable fortress of the Bush Administration.
January 21st, 2009....
Why do I have a feeling this will be used to prove we should still be there, even though it's actually proof we should be gone.
Geneva convention, no torture, anyone?
The Geneva Conventions are so last century. We've moved on since then - part of little Donny's "modernisation": a leaner, meaner army.
Do you really think these savages abide by any laws.
The question needs to be asked: which savages are you referring to?
maybe just guidelines.
Al qaeda, of course
law.... sigh, the laws are very flexible in these days... can't use it as standard to make judgement on "savage".
There's no "of course" about it. Haven't you been following the news at all? Do Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay, Diego Garcia, Bagram and various nameless hell-holes in Poland, Romania, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Djibouti and Ethiopia mean anything to you?
Based upon the recent survey of members of our military, I am reasonably sure that more force than is necessary is being applied by members of the US military in an attempt to save their comrades. Unnecessary physical abuse is taking place as we type, and there is more than one soldier out there thinking "If I catch someone who may know something about these missing soldiers, it's OK to torture the information out of him".
But we'll win those hearts and minds yet -- you'll see. And if we don't win 'em, we'll carve 'em right out of their bodies.
Are you trying to say that the terrorists that slaughtered 2973 people on September the 11th are the innocent party here, quite frankly that is sickening and disrespectful to those who lost their lives in that tragedy and the immediate people who were affected by it. and those camps are holding people who could potentially blow up you or someone you know, would you be saying Al qaeda wasn't savage if you had lost someone in a terrorist attack by them, No
i'm not sure what's funnier:
1. that that's what you think he actually said
2. your lowball estimate of lives lost on 9/11
Funny? Or pathetic?
over the past 6 years, i've noticed a great convergence there.
1 The people who flew the planes were Saudis, not Iraqis
2 The US in particular has disregarded the Geneva Conventions throughout the illegal occupation of Iraq
3 Get off your high horse
"Potentially" is not good enough. Many if not most of the people in those camps have either been sold to the US for $5,000 apiece, and/or have not been found guilty of anything whatsoever. You are "potentially" a "terrorist", and many other things besides: should you be locked up indefinitely? A simple "yes" or "no" will suffice.
i'm well aware of that, the point i was making was that Al qaeda is a barbaric organisation, furthermore i didn't mention anything about iraqis flying planes into the WTC, i stated that al quada were responsible for those attacks and the people who kidnapped those soldiers are members of Al qaeda
When I read that I thought you were being sarcastic, apparently not.
Who isn't these days?
Well i've had enough politics to last me for the next month,
some ppl need a mirror.
Some ppl are living on the other side of one.
