Does anyone think the noise of the vibrator motor sounds any different from the 5 to the 5S? To me the 5S sounds louder and almost like there is something loose in the phone...

Thank you!!!!! I thought I was the only one... Apparently, everyone says that it is the camera lens making the weird sound. And yup, sounds like there's something loose inside.

I care if it is a sign that there is a defect with the phone. It is noticeably different from the 5, but if it is an expected difference than you're right it's not an issue.

    Clearly not you.

This news will thrill those that work in an office with people that put their phone on vibrate instead of silent.

Mine sounds quieter but more firm than the 5.

Exactly I care too. $800 dollar phones should be perfect. No sounds, no noises, no defects.

Glad I'm not the only one. It sounds different, but as long as others recognize the change, then I'm not going to worry about it.

I noticed this too, is it only when the device is in certain angles? Glad I'm not the only one.

They may be using a different motor, that's all. I remember similar posts comparing the 4S and 5 last year.

This is due to the new camera lens and improved. If you try to keep the iPhone when is vibrating in the air that sound is almost gone

Thanks all.. one of the reasons why I decided to wait to get the 5S... essentially all the preorder guys are beta testing the new iPhone 5S :) I will wait until apple addresses these issue and get the "new bactches" of the iPhone 5S :)

Nothing….I mean absolutely nothing is perfect. $250,000.00us cars have defects and you think an $800 Cell Phone will be perfect.

It's going to be an unhappy life for you if expect perfections.

Try and we talk after that
Or you can hold the phone from the camera lens with your fingers and again the sound is gone. So the answer is simple, no issue with the vibration motor

Whilst I'm not overly worried, I did notice this. The noise from the vibration was louder than the ring tone! haha

With the 5S, guess this gal couldn't get away with what she did...

Okay, I'm declaring it a feature, not a bug.

Besides shaking the iPhone and hearing the camera shutter. That's the only sound I hear when I focus on trying to hear it ;).

Could you guys go to an apple store or a carrier store to see if this noise is present on those too?

I actually discovered something, try holding your finger over the vibrate switch and then make the phone vibrate, does the extra noise go away?
