whenever i use the search, it just goes to google. isnt it supposed to find bittorrents? not sure how to use it

Yep, beat me too.

I have a screen shot on my blog.

I'm using it, it's really really good for a Beta

whats the big deal tho, Vuze seems better. maybe i just dont know how to use it yet. but on Vuze you can search for torrents within the program

I'm having some serious disk issues with this Beta.

It keeps filling up my disk and sucked all of my available RAM. This is normal:

A few seconds later:

The Finder was also giving me the error messages about a full startup disk. Guess I'll have to stick with Transmission for a while longer...

OMFG!!!! uTorrent is out finally!! i can scratch transmission now and enjoy 100% total awesomeness with my favorite torrent client on my mac! whoooo

oh, and vuze is not even close to what the capabilites utorrent can do! ^_^

ok, explain how. so i can start enjoying it too :D

ok, well here are some points off the top of my head.
-utorrent isnt stuffed with excessive amounts of java making the GUI so messy
-utorrent does not hog up all your RAM like how Vuze does
-you can set your settings much more better than Vuze (however the beta doesnt have a lot of options right, but im sure it'll will show up later, cuz the windows version had lots of options for me back then)

i'll just tell you this, dont get vuze and if you dont want to use utorrent, transmission is a good client. but i have high hopes for utorrent

+1 transmission has always had reliablity issues for me. Each update I always wondered if it was going to keep working.

Nothing could have stopped you from using the latest uTorrent build in the past. All you had to do is download Darwin and run the Windows app.

I'll try it out when Vuze finishes the download in about 2 hours.

I just hope it doesn't think that half of the downloaded data is corrupted and unusable, like Transmission does.........

Not any faster than Transmission for me. If anything it's slower.

Transmission 1.40
Max Connections: 49
Max Seeds+Peers: 52
Max Speed: 194kBps
Mode Speed: 145kBps

µTorrent 0.9b
Max Connections: 35
Max Seeds+Peers: 186
Max Speed: 153.8kBps
Mode Speed: 140kBps

Anyone else tried it on a PPC Mac ?
For me, it will launch, and I can even mess with the preferences, add torrents, the GUI works, etc.
But apparently they won't start downloading.
(I know the official page states the app. is Intel only, I just found it odd that it would launch anyway).

I haven't yet tried it on PPC, but if the developer says it doesn't work, why bother? ^^

Still, my guess is that its planned to be Universal app, but beta doesn't yet work correctly on PPC. Thats the reason the Get Info windows says its Universal, not Intel.

On a side note, I've tried this beta on my MB and it randomly causes system to think the disk full, even though I have 17 gigs free, and stops downloading. One of the beta bugs I think :( Still, the app is very nice and eats very few system resources (1.7-3% CPU and 18-23MB RAM), especialy compared to Vuze (5-9% CPU, 80-130 MB RAM)

We'll see how the 1.0 release is gonna be ^^

What's up with the application file size? Hmmm
MS Windows -> 263KB
Mac OS X -> 1.4MB (3.9MB installed)

..and where are the ability to create torrent?
I know its a beta, but its 5-6x as big and still feature cropped against the MS Windows version.

Well as much as I like Vuze advanced features, I will not forgive the developer into making such a bloatware Azureus has become, not only its interface is ugly (well the new Vuze is okay) but I hate the fact that they try to make like a single app that can do anything. Vuze is no iTunes and it will never be as sleek as iTunes.

I uninstalled both Vuze and Transmission when uTorrent:Mac beta was released (got it ASAP, just didn't post in the forums). Its still early though, I wished it can do selective download but guess not and its not as light as the Windows version, maybe the beta version is running on uncompressed code?. Anyway what's the use of automatically map port? I went to PortForward.com and it asked me to disable it.

Love the sleek UI, my setting is full horizontal, closed the vertical drawer. Info turned on, love the blue effect.
