As a Brit and therefore an expert on gravy - I'd be tempted to try this.

711 just opened (or, bought and remodeled) the local gas station. Coffee's not bad, but I avoid it if at all possible.

Serving gravy from a Slurpee machine is just.... disgusting.

As an American connoisseur, call me when they have a Meatloaf Button. Otherwise you're no better than an exotic dancer, or decaffeinated coffee.

I LOVE mashed potatoes but have no skill to make my own so I'd probably do this.

I doubt they'd taste like Grandmas though :p

Something tells me that machine is not going to get thoroughly cleaned very often...

You know what makes mashed potatoes nice? Pouring animal fat into them. Unfortunately animal fat is probably too expensive for a vending machine product... :(

Here in the US animal fat costs less than the potatoes.

Really? I would have thought it would be cheaper to use a cheap vegetable oil with the potatoes - All the commercial food here is made using vegetable oil.

It sound like a weird idea, but I would try it.

Side note, I really want a KFC Mashed Potato Bowl now.

    May I recommend Idahoan!

I dispute that claim, what county are you from? If its further south than Yorkshire than you don't know Gravy. ;)

    Say what?

You boil potatoes, stick a little bit of milk, butter and salt and mash its goddamn brains out.

And I'd think you would be sorely disappointed. This would be standard american gravy powder mixed with water not drippings from a good roast thickened. Being 7-eleven it will likely be cheap powder.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't think I'd trust that the 7-Eleven clerk was taking the time and effort to completely sterilize this thing. Even once a month or year.

Idk what American exceptionalism has to do with anything in this thread.

But yeah this is rather crazy if you ask me.

Those machines need to be properly taken apart and cleaned on a regular basis. It could get really ugly really quick if they don't keep up with a cleaning schedule.

Plus that's just disgusting. I think they sell pre made mashed potatoes at walmart. Why not just buy some and heat them up?

Or live on the wild side and buy some potatoes, boil them, mash them up, add milk, butter, spices, and bam u got some nice mashed potatoes. One of the easiest things to make. And if you have no time for all that, go to subway.

Mashed potatoes really require very little skill...peel, cut and boil, mash with some butter and milk. Done.
