Apple announced this morning that due to strong sales of the Apple iPad, they have delayed international delivery for about a month.
Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.
Apple reports that the high demand is responsible for the delay in international shipments. International delivery will take place at the end of May. Details and pre-orders will be announced on May 10th.

Well, Congratulations Steve.

Personally the iPad doesn´t interest me one bit, but as it seems a lot of people would like to get their hands on it, so yeah. Enjoy! :)

this is just bad for business, people abroad are paying steep prices because of this black market stage… with all that cash apple has they should have done a worldwide release, that would have been awesome!

Excess cash doesn't mean you can ramp up production when suppliers have components in short supply.

Great news for the popularity of the new product, bad news for those who have to wait.

But I thought everyone wanted Flash? Why is demand so high for a product that doesn't do Flash??

This must be eating away at Adobe like nothing else.

This is a horrible development, IMO. Other countries need this! Non-American developers (me, for instance) are struggling to be able to get their hands on an iPad!

Apple seems to have meeting demand when launching iProducts. Are they just unable to make enough, or do they just not order enough? After the original iPhone, you would think they would learn how to gauge demand better. But, nope. They had supply & demand issues with the 3G iPhone and now this.

In other news, the prices of iPads on eBay double!

I am glad a friend of mine scored me one when he was in Florida. One and a half more months of show off! :p

I may have to take a chance and put my ipad up on eBay with international shipping. It's easy enough to get one here in the US. Easy way to make a quick buck. :D

Great, thanks Apple for screwing over the rest of the world, as if we don't suffer enough with the inflated prices. Of course what they meant to say is "We are sorting out the wifi issues but don't want to admit it".

This was expected but it still sucks! What exactly does "International" mean? Will they be delivering to every single country in the world? Or does it only mean like 3 countries like they did for the original iPhone? Is there an official list somewhere where Apple describes what they mean by "International"?

It might be a good idea for Apple to invest some of the $40 billion dollars they are sitting on into getting more efficient manufacturing facilities in place. ;)

it's nothing special. It doesn't do anything I cannot do already. I will buy it when it has a front facing camera for skype, granted I can use my macbook pro for this, but at that point, I see some viability in the device.
