Great. More fraud.

It was just a suggestion. When the devil whispers you choose what to do with it.
I just sympathize with OP because he almost lost 2000 just because of an accident.

Now while all of you might be judging OP I can hardly imagine you all being unblemished.

If you sin, you can make up for it by doing good things. You are further in live with you spiritual evolution. Great for you. But that doesn't mean you get the right to judge.

This holier than thou attitude is disgusting.

Let he who has never sinned throw the first stone.. Let's have it hypocrites?

In this case murderer's can atone for their sins and get away with it. We also should abolish all courts and juries as we're all sinners and cannot judge anyone period. Now, if we were all like the OP and spilling coffee + creamer on our macbooks, cleaning them internally with distilled water, and then telling the genius that it was 'just a wee bit of water' then we would have no right to judge. But since I'm assuming the majority of us aren't going to commit fraud against the Apple store, we have every right to judge the unethical behavior of the OP.

distilled water

I didn't clean it with water. As I've stated several times now, I paid to have it professionally cleaned. Anyone with any knowledge of the procedure would understand that that implies the use of either ethanol or isopropyl. If you don't know what you're talking about, it's best to just keep your mouth shut.

According to Apple's policy, liquid damage...is just that. They don't (or shouldn't) discriminate between water and coffee spills. The fact that some of their "geniuses" blatantly do only demonstrates Apple's own negligence, not mine. All I've done is made Apple follow their own policy, something I shouldn't have had to have done in the first place. Ethically, I'm immaculate.

If you want to question someone's ethics, leave your bias behind and consider Apple's decision to not only refuse to clean my MacBook, but to advise me against having it cleaned at all. Bear in mind that this was after already warning me of the inevitable corrosion that would result from the coffee residue. When questioned, they couldn't even give a single bit of reasoning to back up their exploitative advice, in fact they couldn't have ended the conversation sooner.

It would take someone quite special to be able to justify their behaviour, and then to continue to challenge my morals.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, for those interested in the end result, it's been very good news from my point of view. I've had to pay to replace the speakers only, which according to Apple, is enough to bring it back up to a warrantable state. I collected it from the store last Saturday, but I've been busy with university work, which is why I've taken so long with the update. I'm typing on it right now.

I couldn't have hoped for a more just outcome. I had an accident, which wasn't covered by the warranty, and I've paid Apple to fix it. Fair trade.

Though, a part of me does kind of hope that Apple need to replace each and every single component in the next three years just to spite the majority of you.

Too bad there is a case tied to your serial number now. So if by chance you have a future issue and try to scam apple in replacing a defective part they will deny any repair and will be able to see that you voided the warranty by opening the cpu up and having it cleaned by a third party person. This is coming from working at an Apple Specialist for many years. We see so many entitled people like yourself who have accidents and instead of having an ounce of accountability shift the blame to Apple or someone else. Here is a simple lesson, don't have liquid around a computer. It's really that simple.

Either way no Apple insurance or not you still get ****ed hard for replacment parts because there all sawderd together and cost a ******** just to fix.

If only Apple would stop using saws to build there laptops. Then they would be coffee (milk/sugar?) proof!

The fact that you paid someone to professionally clean your laptop to hide the original liquid spill and that you seem to be more annoyed that I got the chemicals wrong to clean your computer rather than seeing your practice as deception speaks volumes...

Anyways, I guess I'm going to buy myself an AMG Mercedes, don't buy any auto insurance, take a corner too fast, and then drive it into a ditch. Then I'll expect MB to fix it for free as it was 'their fault' for building a 600HP car that isn't crash proof. I mean Mercedes should know better that we're all going to crash our cars....

I pity your generation, I guess morals just isn't really taught these days...

Karma is a bitch and will catch up to you someday. It would be quite disappointing for you in the future to buy something that was sold/advertised to you in a totally different condition.

It was just a suggestion.

No. Apart from the moral debate, it was aiding and abetting committing fraud, which is against the forum registration agreement as far as I can see:

"You warrant and acknowledge:
...that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, hateful, abusive, threatening, sexually explicit, or that violate any law.

This is why promoting pirate or unlicensed software or the means to obtain it isn't allowed on the forum etc etc...

So if you want a "holier than thou" discussion, best have it with the mods.

This is a child's logic. You don't even know what ethics is.

So do you think murder unforgivable? Do you think the world is black and white, right or wrong, left or right?

Like I said. We don't have the right to judge. That's not your job, that's up to god, the universe, the court or whatever you believe in.

Take a law class in ethics. It's uneducated people that think that someone who commits a murder, is a murder and a criminal and nothing more than that. Hate to break it to you kid but the world is not that clear cut and dry.

But like I said if you have never sinned throw the stone.

My message didn't violate any law. At least read what you quote. Or take a law class sport. The message I posted doesn't violate the law anymore than thinking about doing something unlawful violates the law.

But I can see that the minority report police is in full force in this thread.

I really hope that if I 'justifiably' murder someone, I want 12 of you in the jury so I can get away with it. As my counsel could easily convince you that none of you have the right to judge me, heck neither does society as its only between my God and I or flying spaghetti monster...

The OP didn't just think of something unlawful he ACTED on it.

You deserve a second comment because I reread this and the stupidity in this comment exceeds anything I have ever witnessed.

My comment is not the equivalent of:

"Hey just download the pirated version here -link-".

If I'm having a conversation with someone and he says to me I have cash problems and I say: "Well you can always rob a bank?".

The police could be in the same room as me as I'm saying that to that person and there would be nothing illegal about it. They wouldn't be able to arrest me or the person I'm saying it to. They'd probably agree: "Yea your friend could do that but if he did...".

Do you sincerely think that I will be tried and sentenced for aiding and abetting committing fraud?

Because if you do I have a bridge to sell you.

You're way into minority report mindset.

So your moral level is set only by a dead certainty of conviction and sentencing?

You were encouraging him to rip off an insurance company plain and simple, if you don't think that is an offence in any reasonable jurisdiction then you need to take the law class, not me...
