this is serious, i can't use Mail until i go through the setup. the problem is that i can't find the incoming mail server and outgoing (STMP) mail server. i saw it somewhere, but now i can't remember. does anyone know the address for these servers? i really need to send an email, right now !!!

if you're talking about sending a mail from a non-apple address, you are going to have to check with your provider for the smtp information...

if you're talking about sending it with your @mac.com address, you could use the webmail... just go to the apple website -> itools -> webmail.

or do I not understand your queston??

irmongoose, you've done well, i barely understand the question!:p
i'm trying to find the server adresses for @mac.com (the adresses for the outgoing and incoming mail servers) Mail in OS X needs this to do the setup, and until i set it up i can't use Mail.
at least now i can start looking for them at the Apple website.

thanks Beej. i just couldn't remember what it was or where i saw it. i eventually found them at the iTools online help.

for anyone else who's wondering:

incoming mail server - mail.mac.com

outgoing (SMTP)mail server - smtp.mac.com ( i think thats what it is, or its STMP. i've really confused myself now)
