About This Mac system storage size for Mojave?

Under "About This Mac" Storage, what is the size of your Mojave system? Mine initially was 11GB and now it fluctuates between 91GB and 132GB. Why did it drastically increase and why does it fluctuate?

I'm running Mojave on my MBP listed in my signature.

A couple of things to check are automatic time-machine backups to your local disk, and sleep image files.

My Time Machine backups are on an external disk and after doing initial backup as soon as I installed Mojave, I have not connected the external drive to the MBP at all. Does Mojave perform some kind of backup to my internal disk? I don't think it does, but is that what you are saying? I will have to research sleep image files as I know very little about them.

After putting the machine to sleep last night, I checked first thing this morning and now my system storage is 32GB. The only thing I did was delete some files in Downloads and Documents. I didn't think those were counted in the system storage. Besides I only deletes about maybe 10GB, not 60GB or more.

Mine is also fluctuating, because it is calculating the size apps (probably the App folder) or other files take. (As shown in the video below) This is a normal behaviour so just let it a little time before checking the system size.

As you can see in the video, it starts at around 36 GB to something that we can't even see with the mouse.

I moved some large video files that were on my desktop and in my downloads folder to an external drive. That drastically reduced the size of the system storage. Because my desktop and downloads were synced to my iCloud they were being counted in system storage? Now when I check there is not a "system" category under storage under About This Mac! Also, it now says I have 192GB available of my total 251GB. So I guess I'm through wondering what's going on. Thanks!
