I always knew bacon was special but this puts it over the top.

Eureka, they’ve found it! Right wing Christians, who have long been searching for a way to prove that America was always meant to be a theocracy, not a secular country, have finally stumbled upon a piece of evidence so earth-shattering that not even the most cynical atheist could possibly deny it. Is it a letter from the founders? A missing addendum to the Declaration of Independence? The long lost real, true ‘other’ Constitution which was secretly replaced by the Illuminati centuries ago?

    No, it’s bigger! It’s BACON!

On September 15, 2014, right wing pastor and certifiably crazy person, Bryan Fischer, revealed ‘absolute proof” that America is a Christian nation to his radio audience, saying:

You want one single item of proof that America is a Christian nation and not a Jewish nation and not an Islamic nation? One single bit of proof is all you need: we freely allow restaurants and grocery stores to sell and to serve bacon. That can only happen in a Christian country.

Why, yes, of course it’s bacon! Why didn’t we see this before? Only a Christian nation would allow people to sell, serve or consume all that smoky, sweet, greasy goodness that is known as bacon.

Or maybe a non-religious, totally secular country would also allow that… Nah.

A Hindu country? Holy cow, if it weren’t for all those burgers and steaks, I’d think he might be on to something there.

Fischer summed it up by saying:

“So the sheer fact that we freely allow the sale and consumption of bacon is absolute proof that we are, in fact, a Christian nation.”

don't try injecting logic in his argument it will fail.
I bet he uses the old testament for some of his arguments too.

Yup, depending on where you're from determines how it's made, but it comes from the pig.

Heh, that gets us to another point: modern Jews generally aren't as strict about the whole kosher diet. Often choosing only to observe it during holidays, if at all.

I come from a Jewish family and thus, know a lot of Jewish people, and not a single one maintains a kosher diet. Not even my grandfather who's pretty religious. There are definitely Jews out there who are strict about a Kosher diet, but they really are the exception and not the norm, at least in the US it seems.

The only person I know of who doesn't eat pork for religious reasons isn't Jewish, or Muslim for that matter.

I don't eat bacon in part due to my own irrational thought process. If I really like a specific animal, it's difficult for me to eat anything that comes from that animal without thinking about it.

Yeah, personally my aunt is the only one in my family who keeps kosher... mostly because she is a Rabbi. My grandparents were a little weird about it: they kept Kosher at home, but not when they went out to eat.

The free sale of bacon indeed proves that the U.S. is not a fundamentalist jewish or islamic state.
But he doesn't know that without bacon being sold?

Right, that does not mean of course it is a Christian nation...others have mentioned countries following or with a cultural background of Hinduism or Buddhism. Also those dirty godless commies and socialists like Cuba (Cuban sandwiches drooool) or Sweden. Some politicos need brain transplants or something.
