Adobe After Effects quit unexpectedly...

Installs fine, box pops up in the middle of the screen & gets
as far as "loading interface" then quits.

I had almost the same problem. Whenever I tried to open After Effects or Illustrator the app quit unexpectedly.
What I did to solve this problem was deleting all fonts from the user/yourname/library/fonts folder. After I did that the app worked fine. But the problem was only one font and to find out which one, here's what I did:
1. Back up all fonts of your fonts folder.
2. Delete them all from the folder FONTS, located at /users/yourname/library/fonts
3. Check if the program opens. If it doesn't, forget this post. It's not your case, unfortunatelly. But if it does, hooray! Let's move on to the next steps.
4. Reinstall the fonts from your back up by dragging them back to the Fonts folder in steps. For example: First you drag the fonts that start with the letter A. Try opening the app After Effects. If it launches, you know your bad font is not among those. So, drag the B ones, the C ones, ... and so on... Eventually you will come up with the one (s) with problems.
