Hi all,

I just updated to 12.2 on my MBA M1 and now scrolling with my Magic Mouse isn't working in Safari. The scroll bar just bounces at the top like its stuck there with a spring as I try to scroll away. Most other apps seem to scroll OK. I'm using a Logitech mouse now and its fine in Safari. Any ideas? I rebooted, etc.

Just my thinking: if another mouse works, it seems your Magic Mouse has a communication problem with MBA (does it happen when scrolling in other apps?).
Well, it's worth a try: unpair ("forget" in bluetooth panel) and pair again MagicM. (?)?‍♂️

Magic Mouse is fully charged, I just tried to remove and repair it, I power cycled the mouse a bunch. Still not working. :/. And yeh, its only Safari.

Any ideas? Literally can't use Safari and my Magic Mouse. Everything other app is fine. My other Logitech bluetooth mouse is fine.

It is 100% a MacOS 12.2 problem. The 12.2 update completely broke Magic Mouse scrolling consistency to the point it is unusable. Scrolling doesn't work properly anymore unless you are only touching the mouse with 1 finger. Are you sure it's only safari? It happens in every app for me.

After update to Monterey 12,2 (Mac mini M1) my magic touchpad/magic keyboard are not connected and will not recognise or connected by Bluetooth panel any more. Have to connect usb mouse and wired keyboard to work with the Mac mini M1??? anyone with that problem??

Open a case at Apple. It's unbelievable how many different bugs Monterey brings regarding input methods.
Be it mouse (lag, scrolling issues, gestures) or keyboard including wake issues.

Well I posted on the Apple community forums and I swear the post got deleted. :/ I'd hate to have to do a fresh install, but maybe that'd do it. I have a Time Machine backups, but I wouldn't want to restore it to a broken state.

I've been trying to find threads on this issue. Currently on 12.2.1 and Safari 15.3.

Scrolling locks constantly - it' like the browser is having trouble rendering the page and it gets stuck. Weight of the website doesn't seem to matter - simple text pages VS complex websites like Pinterest dynamically loading data. Scrolling freezes intermittently across all of them.

It does not appear to be an issue with my Magic Mouse as other apps don't reproduce this issue. Just Safari. Started using Chrome (UGH) just to get around it - it's that bad.

There is some hope: https://trac.webkit.org/changeset/287997/webkit/

Looks lie Safari Technology Preview 140 might solve it. I downloaded it and the problem hasn't shown up for me yet. It's odd because this bug ticket specifically mentions scroll pads, but maybe it hits on Magic Mouse too. Maybe it's just placebo!

It's MacOS, I found exactly what triggers it. If you maintain at least one finger on the Magic Mouse when you turn it on, scrolling works perfectly forever. The second you take both fingers off the mouse then place them back down scrolling is busted. Can reproduce this with 100% success on two magic mice across 3 separate Macs.

I've encountered this several times in the last few days (12.3.1, 16" MBP). Workaround is to quit and relaunch, but obviously that sucks. One thing I've noticed is that the bug also changes text selection. If I select text and then hit an arrow key, the selection is lost. I think what's happening is that the page is being treated as if there was in insertion pointer wherever was last selected, and you can move that up and down as if it was a word processor document. So if you select (or even just click) in the middle of the visible page, it takes many key presses to get it to scroll up or down (and then it jumps), but if you select text near the bottom of the visible page, it only takes a couple key presses to get it to go down (or many more to go up). The generally crazy layouts of most HTML pages make this super non-obvious, but if you try it on a mostly text page, it becomes obvious.

If anyone knows of a fix besides relaunching Safari, or a permanent one, I'd love to hear about it. This is extremely annoying when it happens.

Does anyone else in this thread have 1Password 8 or Wipr installed? I feel like this might have started happening (for me) around when I installed 1P 8.
