hello everyone, i have been noticing that after i installed panther and chosen airport as my internet connection..my system boots the same speed..but the wireless icon on the upper right corner appears really slowly..it usually takes 10-20 sec for it after panther starts to appear that i have a wireless card, does anyone have this problem?? thanks!

Mmmm, never had this problem and i've run on a upgraded version and a fresh install...

Are you using Automatic mode for your network location and have you got your airport name set on discovery instead of hard setting it in the options?

What order do you have your ports set in the network prefs? When looking for a network, panther looks in that order.

So if you have it:

Ethernet
Bluetooth
Internal Modem
USB Mode,
Airport

The computer will do a dhcp discover on the ethernet, wait until that times out, look for a bluetooth phone, wait until that times out, look for a carrier on the modem...

Try dragging airport to the top and see if that helps.
