So title says it all , I have 3 airtags associated with my account . After update to IOS 15 they are gone , not lost , not anything else ; gone
So a call to Apple ensues , they get me to reset one completely with the battery reconnect 5 times, It will start the pair process but then fails with Cannot Communicate . (my phone is an 11 max )
It will pair happily with an ISO14 phone.
More interestingly the "missing" ones if scanned with another phone (my wife , separate account ) don't respond at all , not a pairing response not any info back at all.
I have a scheduled call tomorrow with Apple engineering ; will update after that they second line escalted it real quick so I wonder if they have seen this before.

My wifes tag and IOS14 phone still work just great

Not having much luck with 15 . It bricked my TV4k but at least Apple are replacing thate FOC out of warranty :)

Similar issue here. Somehow my AirTag has unpaired itself from me, and I’m now getting notifications saying I’m being followed by a mysterious AirTag.

Interesting race conditions (I'm on the beta for all of these - haven't encountered any of these problems).

Everyone commenting should be including their specifics (which iPhone, possibly their locale/carrier?) - anything that could help narrow down what's common to people experiencing these.

Just checked on my iPhone 12 Mini after updating to iOS15 today and my AirTag is still there

Reset my AirTag and re-paired. Seems to be working as it should now.

interestingly, when checking find my on my iPad when I got home, it’s still showing the ‘old’ one as being at work. So the issue was solely an iPhone issue it would appear.

I had the same problem. Upgraded to v15 on iPhone 12 Pro and AirTags were gone. Wife upgraded with no issues.

I was able to get mine working without resetting the Apple AirTags. I checked my other devices and the AirTags were still registered to my iCloud account. The steps I followed are:

-Turned off Find My on iPhone
-Closed out of Find My app
-Turned on Find My on iPhone
-Reboot phone

All AirTags popped back into Items tab.

This did the trick for me. I ran into the same issue. Updated to 15 on my 12 Pro Max. All tags were gone. Did above and they are all back! 🙏

A quick update ; Apple called back
Asked me to turn off location services; turn off bluetooth ; turn off wifi.
Reboot (forced)
Turn on Wifi, bluetooth, Location services

After that the tags that had not been reset reappeared and teh one they reset was able to pair

They have seen this a lot it would seem

unfortunately no success. After turning off all mentioned services, rebooting and turning them on again, the only difference is that I now get an endless spinning wheel when I tap Items in the find my app.

Boredom got the best of me and I decided to update my iPhone to 15.0. I first removed the Airtag before updating ios and added it back as a new Airtag and it works like normal.

I experienced the same problem with none of my two AirTags showing up in Find My app on my iPhone 12 Pro after updating to iOS 15. I found this post and tried the proposed solution of turning off/on location services, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and rebooting the iPhone. No luck; it didn’t work.

I contacted Apple via their Support app and they suggested resetting each AirTag as explained here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212251

After resetting them, I could pair them back to my iPhone and they work as expected now! This is definitely a bug in iOS 15, so even if the reset works for you, I would contact them on the chat so they can log, escalate and fix this bug.

Update 1: I opened Find My app on my iPad Pro and none of the AirTags are shown there (although my devices are there as usual). I opened the Find My app on my iPhone again and now 4 AirTags are shown! Two of them are duplicates… The two old ones (old names) say they are 0 km away and last seen 30 min ago. The two new pair show as “with me” and “now”. I contacted Apple again and they suggested deleting the two old ones, restarting my iPad, and removing/inserting the battery on one of the AirTags, but only once this time. Nothing worked… While waiting from an answer from Apple, I reread this thread and tried what @BStatham suggested:

- Turned off Find My from Settings.
- Closed Find My app.
- Turned on Find My from Settings.
- Opened Find My app and the AirTags showed up!

As of today, the first tag of six that I bought has not updated.
I also had to switch off the radios and reboot my phone as "find my" could not locate the server.
The latter problem due to adoption of iOS15 perhaps?

Yeah same here after seeing that a mystery Airtag was following me. I checked the 'Find My' app and noticed they disappeared. I closed the app, restarted my phone and then they re-appeared. Not sure this a legit fix, but it worked for me.

The steps that 'alunjunkinsuk' listed worked for me. After following those steps, all my airtags were once again showing up on m iPhone 12.

Note: forced reboot is three-steps:
- Press and release volume up
- Press and release volume down
- Press and hold the right side button. Continue holding until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears. Then release the side button.

I had first tried turning off Find My iPhone and rebooting, but that didn't work.

Reboot (forced)

I followed these instructions exactly on my iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro, which both had the missing AirTags problem on updating to iPadOS 15. It worked perfectly for me.

  1. Turn off Location Services (Settings > Privacy)
  2. Turn off Bluetooth (Settings > Bluetooth)
  3. Turn off Wi-Fi (Settings > Wi-Fi)
  4. Force reboot.
  5. Turn on Wi-Fi (Settings > Wi-Fi)
  6. Turn on Bluetooth (Settings > Bluetooth)
  7. Turn on Location Services (Settings > Privacy)
I wonder if this has failed for some as they're disabling (not turning off) Bluetooth using the Control Panel.

Posting this now as I had hoped iPadOS 15.0.1 would correct the issue itself, but no. I've had to perform this operation on every device I've updated to iOS or iPadOS 15. Guess I must be lucky.
