The courts recently ruled that lawsuits can be served to a defendant through a tweet on their twitter accounts.

    I think it's a bad idea. What's your opinion ?

Just wow. I have a twitter account. Never really check it. I'd neveer know I got served. There is a reason you have to be served in person.

Ludicrous. I can see it now. Your honor, we served them via Twitter. Hey dumbass, you served a parody account.

Ridiculous. People need to stop legitimizing garbage services like twitter.

The judged cited that the twitter account was active and in use.

People like you and me, who rarely use twitter would not be impacted.

I could however, be served on PRSI.

Think about it... "@TrumpsFlappyTaint you have been served" would never hold up in a court of law. This is ridiculous.

Huh. I would have thought email would be the first electronic avenue that legal service would be ruled admissible.

    Twitter??

    Horrible idea.

Such matters should be served in person, and to the person addressed to (not a roommate, sibling, parent, adult child, etc.) ever. They should have to sign for it and a record should be kept. That should be the standard.

With Twitter I don't know how you would know you sent to right account. People can have the same names and accounts can be spelled really similar increasing likelihood of error.
