Hopefully it's just another fake like the French idiot teacher yesterday, who made up the claim of being "attacked by ISIS" (and cutting himself with a carpet knife... :Do_O)..

NYC received an email threat as well. Was deemed not credible.

And every time we have to close schools, or evacuate a building, the terrorists win.

all children are safe as the LAUSD is closed and there are no threats to our school, I still think it's a prank as it's finals week.

Yes you're right, it's costly, disruptive and turns those impacted into victims.

Perhaps after the election we will have a _leader_ to help the USA recover.

By that logic, we haven't had a leader since before Woodrow Wilson.

Sadly kids are probably safer at home but not because of a email threat, but with all of the guns out there.

Rather brings truth to the scene in Die Hard with a Vengeance where Jeremy Irons is calling into a TV or radio station with the same thread, causing the entire New York City school district to be shut down.

And funny how that came home to roost, since the movie came out close to 20 years ago.

But schools are gun free zones. They should be safe there...right?

Threats such as this have happened for a long time. Even when I was in school, and that was a long long time ago. Even back before Gore invented the internet.

A school, yes and unfortunately, rather common; an entire school district is a different beast altogether. I don't ever recall seeing an entire school district shut down from a threat.

Let's not bring guns into this yet, until at least an investigation uncovers that the threat involves guns. We're inviting an argument that doesn't need to be invited.

It was my understanding (and albeit coming from bits and pieces) that this may involve explosives/IEDs from a backpack or set of backpacks in various places. Nothing with guns would be able to stop that.

But again, let's wait to see what info gets revealed before going down the name/blame/shame game.

Not directed at you, @jkcerda, but at everyone in this thread.

Saw on the television set that NY received the same email from the same address but since Allah wasn't spelled with a capital A they figured it was a hoax.

    No, I can't confirm that.

I agree, but for a different reason. Public education.

I could see that, and with it being finals week, quite possible. But since we are talking our schools and most importantly, our children here, I'd have no problem with treating this threat as credible, and investigating it to make sure that there is indeed no threat and/or the thread has been mitigated. Then we can talk about source of the threat.

Let's be clear here, this was a successful terrorist attack albeit no blood or dead.
