From Trump’s 56 minute rally tonight in my state of Minnesota. All you need to know about his psyche is in this quote. Also, curious to know who he means when he says “they” because it’s his supporters calling everyone else elites.

Wonder if the child in that photo realizes that the man-baby whose rally mom and dad have taken her to would rip her away from them in a heartbeat?

    Anyway.

Yeah, the GOP have always been the elitists, the privileged, the entitled. And Trump, with his enormous ego, is the ultimate example of that. How the so-called flyover states think that these jokers represent them just boggles the mind.

Well, he is now. His EO says the kids can get locked up with their parents now. Uniting families as one poster would like to tell everyone in every thread. That's what the country wanted, a man who can solve the problems he causes!

That does seem a quote for the ages, but first it's likely to show up in some campaign ads from the opposition.

“You ever notice they always call the other side 'the elite.' The elite! Why are they elite? I have a much better apartment than they do. I’m smarter than they are. I’m richer than they are. I became president and they didn’t.” -- Donald Trump, 45th President of the USA
Mind you, I'm no political strategist or campaign-ad maker, but I can see that quote turning up somewhere in our mailboxes and on our TVs, followed by the rest of a 30-second ad with some appropriate photos as backdrop:

"We voted for him last time and maybe he was smarter than we were back then, since he's still richer than we are, and still has a nicer apartment than we do, even though we helped make him President.

This time we're voting for someone who thinks all of America matters and deserves to share in her growing prosperity..."

It's the perfect quote to build a campaign around, isn't it.

Trump lives—because the workers feed him.

Trump has nice suits—because the workers clothe him.

Trump has a better apartment than you—because the workers built it.

Trump is in office—because the workers put him there.

And what is Trump without the poor people he so clearly despises? Nothing.

He's not like those deplorable elites.

While this is not the most despicable, venal, shallow or harmful assemblage of his slobbering oral meat sounds or spit-take-inducing "thoughts", this quote gave me the eureka moment that his name is the perfect antonym to "mensch." And that's not even taking into account the historical context of his family-de-separation faux-heroics and how he's trying to soothe the empty shell of his perpetually fragile ego.

I’ve got to say this, he plays his supporters well, of course they along with the sit on their hands GOP (regarding Trump), destruction mode for everything else, make it easy for him, and he’s illustrated in no uncertain terms, the kind of deep **** this country is in.

I actually used to have something of chip on my shoulder, actually thought this was the best country in the world, so I can clearly thank Mr. Trump for finishing what the GOP started, knocking that lame brain illusion right out of my head.

There are people on this forum who blindly support Trump. And there are those who support Trump despite all his lies and actions. Not sure which is "worse" but I think the poster in question is the

Actually this reminds me of that old quote (not sure who or exact wording):

"Socialism never took hold in America because poor Americans don't see themselves as an abused proletariat but as an aspiring rich person."

Case in point. Poor people support Trump even though he couldn't give a flying about them and want policies that harm them. Why? Then he can sit there and insult them to their faces: you're poorer than me, you're stupider than me, you're not as successful as me. And they still love him. Why?

Because he's not talking about me. I might be poor but I'm not like those poor people. I won't always be poor. I'm going places, just like Trump! I'm like him. I'm just not there yet.

No. Sorry, you're probably never going to be there. It's easy to make money when you start with it like Trump. For the rest of us, we're born with limits, and those limits are put there by people like Trump.

Trump is just a con man playing on this idea, you might as well elect Tai Lopez to office.

As long as the States continues to perpetuate this insidious culture of "hard work can accomplish anything" it will never be able to acknowledge or address the roadblocks to success that normal people face. And all of that hard work, for a lot of us, will not take us as far as some people think it might.

Lol, he is such a *******... but he did get elected, so I'm not sure what that says about the rest of us

Edit to add: as usual with this moron - if you have to tell everybody else how smart and rich you are, it probably isn't true!

We could again become one of the best countries in the world even for all the flaws we and any other country do accrue over time. However, we definitely need a few chip replacements (not the ones carried around on shoulders, the ones installed a little higher up) and imo we could start in the White House and move from there to the GOP leadership, and then take a close look at the Dem leadership while we're in finger pointing mode...

And remember we elected all these sons and daughters of 'murica.

And then finally have a look in the mirror to see if there are any check-engine lights flashing  since pretty soon it's time to drive to the polling place and get a leg up on 2020 by first switching out some Congress critters for a better 2019-20 version of America's favorite rogues' gallery.

Worry about 2020 itself after November 2018. Let the RNC worry about Trump for now. That's a heavy lift but they sure do deserve it.

As far as the Dems go regarding 2020 at this point, they should remember where they came from, which most recently in Presidential politics was an apparently unexpected defeat at least partly related to the choice of nominee, platform, strategies and tactics....

He's not smarter than me. Why do I know this? He's President and I'm not. Also, I think my chances of staying out of jail are higher than his.

Quoted for truth. This here is right on the money.

The phrase I keep coming back to when thinking about Trump is “high functioning moron”. Like, he can operate an iPhone and he knows how to write his name, but beyond that...

Hell, Tillerson called him a moron, and Gen. Kelly has referred to him as an idiot. Several times.

What does this say about us? Well, it says Trump is high functioning enough to be able to run the greatest con game of the century, and that were stupid enough to fall for it.

In another topic I said that I think all this Facebook and reality TV has turned too many of our brains to onion dip, and I stand by that. We just don’t do critical thinking anymore.

On another note - since Hillary isn't running, he can change "Lock Her Up" to yelling about immigrant children, "Lock Them Up"

They're still doing that chant about Hillary (at Trump's latest rally – I like to watch them for a bit of masochistic entertainment, and they are entertaining if you turn off the rational thinking parts of your brain for a while).

Agreed. He's good, scary good at that. There's a reason he won the election.
