I have had my macbook pro mid 2010 for about 5 months now, & am hesitant to update. Everything seems to work now as it is, is there any reason to update?

are there some steps to take before & after if I update? I keep reading about resetting pram etc after updates. I have onyx installed, do I use it to do any maintenance before or after an update?

and do I need to get 10.6.4 first? or can I go straight from 10.6.3 to 10.6.5? I never did get the 10.6.4 update, was too nervous of causing problems.

    Security updates.

If you want to make sure that you can go back in case of errors boot from your original Snow Leopard DVD into Disk Utility and create a system image to an external USB drive.

Just start "Software Update" from the Apple menu.
