"Kerényi Zoltán's photos are a haunting marriage of past and present. In them, modern-day snapshots serve as the background for vintage photos taken in the exact same location decades earlier. "I was always interested in the old black and white photos, especially those that show my city, Budapest," the 36-year-old architect and photographer told Yahoo! Shine in an interview."

Loved all of these...

Well, he's certainly not the first to do this kind of project. I think Shawn Clover's take has much great poignancy. This set by Kerényi Zoltán lacks that sense of interaction and continuity that you see in Clover's work.
Thanks for digging that one up - when I was reviewing the Zoltán images, I was reminded of something I'd seen in the recent past, and your link was it; they were featured in a piece in the Chronicle some time back, and are amazing in the way he blends the images to create a sense of 'then' intruding into 'now' (or vice versa). Brilliant stuff.

Can you tell I'm an old sci-fi junkie? :D

Very interesting way to bring two time periods together, I hadn't seen that sort of thing before, just the more traditional side by side comparisons.

Clover's works are very clever and very effective.

Thanks to you both for sharing them.
