Thanks for the tip, I just signed up. Wish me luck
Woohoo, I won.
Wii is shipping tomorrow.
Lucky bum... wife and I both signed up for PS3 60GB, no dice.
I'm pretty much as giddy as a schoolgirl.
Opened my email and had a note from Amazon saying Congrats.
Off to search for Zelda and another controller this afternoon.
I hate you.
I got a Wii.
I ordered zelda from bestbuy.com
I got a nunchuk on ebay.
Looking for another controller and nunchuk, and one classic controller but i might wait till after christmas. Any ideas?
In the US, if you get Wii Play next month it comes with a wiimote.
I called up the local Gamestop and they had one remote and nunchuk left and a bunch of copies of Zelda. Just got back from picking them up.
I think I'm going to buy a lottery ticket...
You can try direct from Nintendo. I got an extra remote, nunchuck, and classic controller from them - but I ordered right after launch, so they may be backed up at this point.
How many Wii's and PS3's did they give out? I'm assuming that the entries were free.
The entries were free. I'm not sure how many were given, but the odds were 44:1 for a PS3 60GB, 22:1 for a 20GB, and 28:1 for a Wii.
What's up with all this signup and voting? I've not received any type of invite or able to sign up yet I started ordering from Amazon the week they went online and have spent thousands of dollars over the years? What's going on?
No one got an invite to vote.
If you go on the amazon home page, on the right side there was a page linking to the amazon customer vote. They allowed you to signup for an opportunity to purchase a PS3 60Gb, PS3 20GB, and a Wii. They then randomly selected people to receive the option to buy one at the retail price. The odds for the Wii were 28-1.
The promotion was on the homepage, and it was extremely fair ...
It was visible and decently publicized. However, I agree that the multitudes of folks who signed up for "email me when the Wii is available for sale" could have expected some notice of this, especially after Amazon botched all notification for their preorders. Not everyone is reading game blogs or checking the Amazon page constantly, after all.
Oh! Buy one... I thought this was contest where people won the actual system, not just winning the "option to buy it." That would have been a huge letdown. Doesn't matter, I didn't know about this until today.
When I tried, it said I was ineligible....
I've done quite a bit of my shopping on amazon. I signed up once, and then after voting closed they notified me of the final odds. The next day I got an email offering to let me buy a wii.
Of course I think its fair because I got one coming but either way they should be plentiful down the road.
I didn't get the promo code/ chance to buy a Wii but I still think it was fair. Random people were chosen and awarded the chance to buy a Wii.
What's so unfair about that?
*wish I could have though* Sigh.
Wii Play has been delayed until February.
, ughh why dont i see these things earlier....
if only i had the chance to even purchase a wii. man... just one more time amazon, one more time
Amazon will probably repeat this method many times in the coming months...
