What's the deal with the Ambient Light Sensor or ALS on the iPod touch. If you Google "iPod Touch Ambient Light Sensor", the first couple of Apple links say about the sensor. Then when you click on the page you cant find it anywhere. Its like they have changed it.

I have always noticed that the ALS doesn't seem to work on the iPod. I'm sure theres one there as I can see a tiny dark black dot above the display.

Can anyone tell me what the score is?

Thanks.

Alex.

Works fine for me.

It may only change light levels when you first bring the device back from sleep.

edit: No, it just takes a few seconds to adjust once the light level changes.

Mine must be faulty. Restoring it now.

Interestingly, there's a new update for it called "iPod Software Update" in iTunes and its 150MB!!!

Maybe this'll fix the ALS issue. Better still the black screen issue. :D

I'll keep you updated...
