America By the Numbers- NYT Interactive Graphic

    I though that this graphic, compiled by the NYT from the newly released Statistical Abstract of the United States, was interesting, though not that surprising.

    Personally, I though that the second, out of the three, marriage statistic was surprising. I would have initially thought that the divorce rate would have been higher since 1970.

    In a way it is "going higher", since marriages are in decline, and divorces remain the same.

    Yes, though it seemed through out the 1980s and 1990s all (collective) you heard about was the increase in divorces and the effect it had on the family unit yadda, yadda, yadda...
