Like many people, I do most of my google searches in safari on iOS. Recently, a small pop-up appears at the bottom of the screen that reads “Get the app and add the widget to your home screen” whenever I do a google search.

The only way to get rid of it is to try to click a tiny “x” that is almost impossible to click. If I do clear it, it pops up for the next search without fail. It takes up a fair amount of screen real estate and I find it infuriating. Anybody know how to permanently remove it? I haven’t been able to find anything on the web about it.

I can’t imagine Apple would be happy about it - it definitely detracts from the experience when using the default search engine.

Wanted to give a valuable hint for all AdGuard (Free) users. It doesn't block that silly widget popup banner initially, but when you click on [aA] > Adguard > "block certain element on this side" you can mark that banner (might have to expand the area with 2-3 clicks) and confirm your selection, this gets added to your own custom filters and should never bother you again :)

P.S. Google's monopoly sucks. I despise their aggressive ad- and subcription-poltics especially with youtube. Luckily, Adguard + PiPfier make the experience good again in Safari. Now what I just miss is a tool to lock the standard res to 720p instead of 360p. Auto-HD for YT doesn't seem to work, sadly. Open for hints.
