I have my 2012 i5 Mini connected to my 42 inch Full HD TV. I use the Display Menu OSX app to switch between resolutions and there are no Hidpi resolutions available on there. I've tried connecting with HDMI ---> HDMI and DVI ---> HDMI. I haven't checked all connections on the back of my TV yet but if there's a DVI connection on the back of the TV will that help out?

HiDPI isn't going to look well if your TV is only 1080p.

HiDPI only works well at retina-fied standard resolutions. For instance, a retina-fied standard resolution of 1920x1080 will be 3840x2160 (uHD).
