Inside A Mac Box
Hey people's,

Got my MacBook Pro 13 inch retina early 2015 (wrapped in its original wrapping) just waiting for Christmas Day. I was reading earlier today and I read about other members experiencing stained display issues on their MacBook. This kind of startled me a bit cause I got a really expensive machine waiting for me. my question is - Is there any members in here who have used their MacBook for a while and still haven't experienced any stained display issues?

Thank you :)

The problem is not that common, and Apple is repairing affected computers. I wouldn't worry about it.

I've had my 2015 model since April and no issues. My old 2009 non retina MBP is also fine as is my sisters 2012 non-retina MBP.

I had it very minor on my 2012 15". I sold it, and it really wasn't too bad while I owned it. I had a 2014 15" for a few months without issue, and am now on a 2015 15" - no issues.

You'll be fine.

Just make sure that:
1. You don't put pressure on the lid of your macbook.
2. You don't use oily fingers/hands on your macbook's keyboard and display.
3. You don't clean your macbook's display with anything other than water and micro-fiber cloth.

and you'll be fine.

Late 2014 13". No issues yet. Being careful not to touch screen too much or clean with a nothing other than damp microfiber. We'll see...

I wouldn't worry about it at all because it is a known issue with a replacement program in place. If you experience the issue in the next 3 years apple will replace the screen at no cost to you and even if it's past the 3+ year mark they would probably still take care of you if you had this problem.

Can you please share any link related to it?

No staining on mine. One in my sig bought in June this year.

Quote the article number, SN2898.

In my opinion, Apple will repair it as long as you are in warranty, but according to this image, if your warranty has expired, you have until 16/10/2016, or 3 years from your date of purchase, whichever is longer.

Nice excuse to upgrade every 3 years :p

I wish my problem was the anti reflective coating, my mid 2014 Macbook pro had white spots on the screen after I changed the background those spots turned black. I'm past my warranty by two months, I don't know if I should take it to the Apple store.

I buy a new 15" MBP every year, and have been for a long time. It's my primary heavy use work laptop and travels all over the world.

Not one of mine have incurred any damage, stains or abrasions to the display. Considering all the countries and all of the USA, it gets its share of exposure. But with an expensive purpose built case, it looks like new.
