Any Other Watch S3 owners feel like they’ve been ditched?

    Hi all,

I don’t feel like I’ve had the series3 with the red crown for very long and yet I got it not long after it was released.

However I cannot help but feel like I’m missing out on all the good stuff that the 4 gets.

The watch isn’t that great that I want to renew it every couple of years so now I’m stuck with a fairly featureless (maybe that’s unfair) blocky watch on my wrist.

    Anyone else feeling the same?

I love my series 3 cellular. The battery seems to not be quite what it used to be, but I'm hoping I can make it until series 6 before replacing it. It was expensive then (and even more expensive now), and the price is the one thing that keeps me from giving it a total recommendation to people who ask.

You never had a car and the next year they changed the design?

Still pretty damned happy with my S3 and it's a worker, it gets a ton of use swimming and streaming music when doing running workouts. Yeah, I'll quite enjoy a screen update when the S5 comes out but S4 wasn't that compelling for me to upgrade the very next year.

I think 2 years between upgrades and that's buying the SS version because I love them so much and if anybody asks me if I really think it's worth tha much every 2 years I could show them a picture of me before I started on the AW challenges :)

    Hi iamasmith
Yes that’s a good point...It’s just that I don’t know if it’s been adequately explained why we don’t get irregular heart rhythm detection when it sounds like a simple software upgrade the three should be able to handle...nor the falling detection.

Well, the S3 does pretty much everything the S4 can do, doesn't it? (Except ECG)

I'm still rocking an S0 and nobody bats an eye.

    Hi tobefirst
    Yes it’s deffo expensive.
Plus I did a short cycling trip (few hours) and it was dead halfway round. Didn’t impress anyone there with this!
My fault for leaving my iPhone behind. I’m sure it would have lasted the course then.
I have to say that I’m possibly not it’s prime target market.
I really only use it for telling the time and HomeKit to power down the house before bed...
Bit of an extravagance for these two apps!

Nope I am happy with the progress of the watch. I got exactly what I paid Apple for. Love my watch. It's an amazing device.

Because there’s nothing to explain. Apple Watch Series 1 and later have abnormal rhythm notifications provided that your Watch is from, and set up in, a country in which it has been approved. Apparently only the Series 4 has the hardware for ECG though.

Scroll down to ‘Here’s what you need to enable irregular rhythm notifications’.

Uh, no way a sense of feeling "ditched." Why would I? I've been perfectly happy with my Series 3 watch and may or may not choose to upgrade it to a Series 5 this fall. More likely that I will just continue to enjoy my Series 3 for another year and see what is on offer in the fall of 2020...... Each iteration of the watch offers new features and functionality, and that is to be expected; at that point (this point in time) the owner of a S 3 or S 4 watch has the choice to upgrade or to continue using what they've already got....seems pretty straightforward and simple to me.

No, I certainly don't feel like I've been "ditched." I'm so happy with my Series 3!

I bought this watch a year ago in June (knowing that of course the Series 4 would be released in September). But, I had a Series 0 and I really wanted cellular capability.

I'm the one doing the work to improve my health and fitness, but my Watch is my partner (Workouts, Activity, Sleep, Heart). And the peace of mind I get knowing I can make a call when I'm out on my walks, at the pool or out driving without my phone (which happens more often that I'd like to admit) is priceless. (I'm in my 70's.)

My Watch is by far my favorite piece of Apple tech and I've been using Apple products since 1984.

I'm looking forward to getting a Watch with EKG capability and fall detection and whatever else is coming. But right now, I have everything I need.

I’m rocking my S4 and definitely plan to rock out until the S7 or S8... depends on the self life of the battery

Basically what you’re really missing with the Series 4, is the 64-bit dual core processor, which essentially means that it will receive longer support likely through applications/software updates. The Series 3 actually shares the dual core processor, but the Series 4 was the first to introduce 64-bit architecture.

Series 3 is two year old hardware.

You will feel the same way with every piece of tech you buy.

I refuse to make a similar thread whenever the series5 comes out.
