As a frequent railroad traveler, the ipad is a blessing to have. That being said, i would like to know if there is a way to make the volume that my movies play be louder. I have it at max volume, and its barely hearable. I've used handbrake to load my movies, as itunes does not sell most of what i like to watch.

Thank you for any tips, ideas,
    Eric

In itunes select the movie, right click get info. Then under options you can up the volume to + 100%.

It helps a little. Honestly a good pair of noise cancelling headphones will do you better.

It may not matter to you but one point to keep in mind. If you change the volume info of a movie in iTunes it will need to re-sync the whole movie. No big deal as long as you know it and have plenty of time to complete this task.

There are several battery powered amps available on Amazon. I've used one of these in the past in my pre-MBP days and it worked very well. Yes, it's another thing to carry but small and ran on 2 AA batteries. Very handy if you use a splitter to allow the wife to watch movies with you on a flight.

Although they are a little expensive the BOSE Quiet Comfort 2 are the best headphones I've ever owned. Used them on airplanes and they are wonderful. I've had several different studio headphones but they don't sound as good as the BOSE. You can get the QC3 (on ear and more expensive than the QC15) or QC15 (around the ear). I tried all 3 (2, 3 and 15) side by side and could not tell the difference. I prefer the around the ear style. They seem to be a little quieter.
