i kinda dont want to give up hibernation but i want my SSD to last as long as possible.
It can only be stored on the boot drive. As per the pmset manual:

You're more likely to replace the SSD due to lack of capacity than for it to die due to wearing out from too much hibernation.
This. Writing 4GB (or 8GB, if you have that much RAM) of RAM to a sleep file isn't going to kill your SSD.
