Apple will blow the existing $1799 13” Intel MacBook Pro out of the water with the new 14” MacBook Pro, but Apple has historically done that at the same price point and then touted the performance and display gains. This MBP replaces the $1799 model and that’s where the price is going to remain or go slightly higher, not lower. There was also a report a while back about a 13” “refreshed” M1 MacBook Pro coming that generally went unnoticed and so I can see Apple removing the TouchBar or increasing clock speed, better monitor support, something minor, to refresh the 13” model and leaving it for sale at the $1299 and $1499 price points. There is zero evidence beyond wishful thinking that the new 14” and 16” MBP’s will be any cheaper than their predecessors.
