Seeing as we don't have any Apple stores in the ROI we'd have to either get them online or go to Belfast (I refuse to buy it from the carriers).

Because I hate both the carriers I've dealt with (Vodafone and 3) and I don't like being tied down by a contract. I could buy the phone unsubsidised but it will still be locked for 6 months or until I spend €130 I think. Also, they usually don't get them straight away and I don't like waiting :p

    Go with O2, they're extremely helpful :)

Got my iPhone unlocked with no problems although their rates are quite high...

I hear you on waiting, I'm dreading the wait for the next iPhone!

I'm from Belfast - will probably be going to the store in Belfast!

When the iPhone 4S came out, I was at the cinema in the centre and came out and there were about 4 or 5 people waiting ... this was about 11.30pm the night before launch!

I look forward to my first iPhone and launch experience, but I haven't decided whether to buy online or in store! :D
