So, since we are coming close to the announcements it would be interesting to see what people are doing and if you are selling or sold your iPhone what you sold it for or what you listed it for because now is the time to do it if you are going to do it.

Sold my 64gb XS for £605 to music magpie, waiting on the 11 now, thinking of getting the max/plus size :)

Keeping my XS Max at least until 2021. The prices are too insane to justify keeping it any shorter. I'd love to see if I can keep it 4-5 years though.

This thread prompted me to see what Gazelle would offer for a 64 GB Xs, and it's only $397, which is ridiculously low I feel, even for a trade in; less than 40% on a phone that is still the current model and not even 12 months old yet. I mean at that point, you're better off turning it back in to your carrier at the halfway point, since that's at least effectively $500.

Anyway, I can never sell an old one before I get a new one. I set every phone up as new, never restore from a backup, and want to match every single setting between phones, so this means holding the old phone in my left hand, new phone in my right hand, and painstakingly going through every single menu in each phone and setting them to be the same.

I have a 256gb mint space gray 8 Plus with another year of AppleCare+ that I’ll sell on Swappa if I decide one of the new phones is a keeper. I’ll sell after I’m convinced I’ll keep one. I’ll lose money waiting vs selling early but I’m not concerned about losing top price and I’ll have peace of mind during the entire process.

I may sell my iPhone 7 128GB after the iPhone 11 launches. I am waiting on the little depreciation wave to come afterwards. Then I’ll probably buy a iPhone 8 256GB or 8 Plus 256GB. I really love the glass back! Sure, I’d like an iPhone 11, but around $1,200 bucks for a phone is really wasteful.

‘Selling’ is becoming ancient, consumers are flocking to trade devices in now, it’s an easier process, you get a decent amount for your trade and you don’t have to deal with sketchy buyers who are trying to fraud the seller. Personally, I no longer sell my devices Online or in person.

Yes but carriers payout so little and for yearly upgrades, they would be better off selling on their own then just turning it back into the carrier or just trade it in.

Sure, it’s really subjective. But selling online or in person has so many associated risks anymore. Fraud is so dynamic in the smart phone world, I would rather just take the hit and trade in.

Although I still have two XS Max, one on at&t prepaid and the other on T-Mobile, I sold a third 512GB Max for $900 on Craigslist a few days ago. Can't get that much on a trade-in.

I'm not planning on buying this years iPhones.

For 2019 iPhone I am not gonna sell my current iPhone XS Max just to stay relevant. A12 is still pretty capable.
Even in 2020, 5G is still a hoax and not ready for the prime time. But, if Apple has something a bit more interesting, I might look into it and see what trade-in value I can get.

This year I will keep my phone as I really like it. I have the 8+. In the past I would sell it privately as the trade in value at t Mobile was never good enough in my opinion. Recently I have been passing down phones to my kid on an as needed basis.

Just sold my XR, although it’s been sat in a drawer for the past month or so as I’ve gone back to my SE and honestly, I’m loving it!

I really hope that one day they’ll make a smaller phone again as the XR was great but just too big for me. Maybe the new regular sized Pro will fit the bill, I’ll have to test it out if the updates seem worthwhile.

I think I’ll sell my Xs Max and use a 6s until iPhone 11

Sold my Xs.

Now using my spare iPhone 6S (with a new fresh battery), this 6S is perfectly fine for regular all day usage.
Must see I truly love the size of this 6S.

For me, out all of my iPhones owned, I still think the 6S is still one of THE best iPhones. Especially with it comes to ergonomics.

Keeping my Xs Max. Based on the leaks and rumors this will be the first year in 10 years where I haven't gotten the new iPhone on release day. It's possible I might change my mind. USB-C would be tempting but this seems like a good year to skip and I have the extended warranty and my phone still looks like new.
