I really Only Want The Watch Head Without The Strap, Would This Be Possible?

I am a potential strap buyer. I'd want to see it (I'd just find one in-store) first to see if I'd really want it, but I really like the way the double wrap one looks on the website.

I also want the strap too! I managed to get to Hermes yesterday and tried on the single and double tour bands. I had thought the double tour would be too fussy, but it was soooooo comfortable, and surprisingly, it made the watch look smaller on my wrist.

Did they give you any indication when they would have the watches in stock? Are you on a reservation list? I'm curious as to how well this will sell. Judging from the lines outside Hermes at 10:00 yesterday it could sell better than Apple or Hermes expected.

If i were to buy a hermes apple watch, what do you think i can sell the strap for?

Who knows? It depends on how well it sells. You may not be able to even get one.

I would only get one if i would be able to sell the strap. I guess i should have bought one already and if i couldn't sell the strap, return it. I live near NY so getting one yesterday most likely wouldn't have been an issue if i were to arrive early. Not sure how stock is today or even the rest of this week.

I'd imagine the selling price would depend on the strap. Which strap are you buying and what do you want for it?

If i cant get close to half the price of the single tour than not doing it. Im trying to get the Hermes watch for the same price as the stainless steel apple watch.

So you want the Hermes watch body just for the Hermes face, as it's nothing more than a standard SS case with the Hermes-specific face?

Bingo

They did offer to put me on the reservation list, but I haven't quite made up my mind whether I want to get the Hermes watch or save my money for the iPad Pro. So no, I didn't ask them when they might get more stock. However, by the time we got to Hermes at 6pm, there was no line. There were 2-3 people ahead of us who were looking at the Apple watch, and I think we were the last to get in before the store closed.

I will keep you updated if I decide to order one, though!

After seeing how they discolor I don't think I'd pay $50.00 for it.

If you're referring to the MR post of the picture where the strap looks discolored, he posted again later and said it was just from his sweat. If you get leather soaking wet, it will darken until dry.

Oh ok, didn't see the later post.

I can empathize with wanting the face only; it's a design Apple should have included stock with at least the Watch and Edition lines. A square case should have the option for a square face. I mean Ive goes on and on about clean design.Personally I love the Hermes face. I couldn't bring myself to spend $1100 on it anymore than I could spend $600 on a SS AW with the same functionality as my $350 Apple Sport model. But that's me, I would feel terrible. But clearly those buying feel good about it. Good for them as long as they don't end up broke in a year and ask me (via the gov't) to bail them out.

Yes, its just the standard SS case w/ a Hermes face but all AWs are really just a variation on a them. Functional they are all identical. You just select which marketing level you want to pony up and buy. Everything about AW is priced for the luxury market, even if its common. For example, a Baume Mercier branded leather band runs anywhere from $125-200. But a similar quality 3rd party band without the "Baume Mercier" stamp on the back can be purchased at a dealer for $45.

So if you buy the single tour Hermes watch, and you want to sell the band this is the best I could come up with for a strap. So I got the 42mm SS with LL, and I paid $700. The band cost $150.00, so the SS by its self was $550. So if you got the single tour you would pay $1100, take $550 away for the watch and the band is $550. That is more than any other band Apple makes. Maybe it's worth it, but that looks like what Apple and Hermes think their bands should cost.

This is a good assessment. I just purchased the Space Black SS with the sports band. If I sold the sport bad for "retail" ($50.00) I would only have $550.00 into the watch. I have a feeling, if Apple/Hermes sell the Straps separately in the future, they will be charging around $500.00+ for them. So I could see someone selling a new/unused Hermes Strap for around $350.00 fairly easy to those that only want the Strap.

Oh yeah that sounds about right. From what I understand $500+ is not that much for a Hermes leather band. I am not going to pay that, but I hear it's really pretty cheap.

I fall into the strap only lovers lol.,
And apple won't just sell the face. The only time the face is solo is with apple care replacement

My replacement came like this

The Apple Watch Hermes has the same warranty as the Edition (2 years). AppleCare+ is $99 and covers a third year. Accidental replacement cost is the same as the stainless steel ($79 per incident for 2 incidents).

Thats crazy, because the Warranty is mainly for the Watch itself more so than the Band. Apple goes out of their way when you are dealing with a Warranty Issue or Manufacturers defect, to make sure you keep the band and don't send it in for possible replacement. The Hermes is no different than the Stainless Steal other than the band, so why would they offer the 2 year warranty for the Hermes over the SS? The top versions of the SS only cost a little less than the Hermes.

The Single Tour is significantly more expensive than the SS with comparable leather band (i.e., saddle brown classic buckle). Part of that covers the longer warranty, which also covers the band should it become defective.

However, Apple will replace the stock bands if they're in fact defective. No different from them not replacing iPhone accessories under the standard warranty or AC+ unless defective.

The more expensive SS versions shouldn't get a lesser warranty when comparing to the lower cost versions of the Hermes.

The Space Black SS with SS Band is $1,100.00 and the Hermes are priced as follows $1,100.00; $1,250.00 and $1,500.00 So explain why the $1,100.00 SS shouldn't get the same warranty as the $1,100.00 Hermes or the $150.00 more version?
