Nope. Just buy one and sell someone the strap.
I am a potential strap buyer. I'd want to see it (I'd just find one in-store) first to see if I'd really want it, but I really like the way the double wrap one looks on the website.
Did they give you any indication when they would have the watches in stock? Are you on a reservation list? I'm curious as to how well this will sell. Judging from the lines outside Hermes at 10:00 yesterday it could sell better than Apple or Hermes expected.I also want the strap too! I managed to get to Hermes yesterday and tried on the single and double tour bands. I had thought the double tour would be too fussy, but it was soooooo comfortable, and surprisingly, it made the watch look smaller on my wrist.
If i were to buy a hermes apple watch, what do you think i can sell the strap for?
Who knows? It depends on how well it sells. You may not be able to even get one.
So you want the Hermes watch body just for the Hermes face, as it's nothing more than a standard SS case with the Hermes-specific face?

After seeing how they discolor I don't think I'd pay $50.00 for it.
Oh ok, didn't see the later post.If you're referring to the MR post of the picture where the strap looks discolored, he posted again later and said it was just from his sweat. If you get leather soaking wet, it will darken until dry.

So if you buy the single tour Hermes watch, and you want to sell the band this is the best I could come up with for a strap. So I got the 42mm SS with LL, and I paid $700. The band cost $150.00, so the SS by its self was $550. So if you got the single tour you would pay $1100, take $550 away for the watch and the band is $550. That is more than any other band Apple makes. Maybe it's worth it, but that looks like what Apple and Hermes think their bands should cost.
Oh yeah that sounds about right. From what I understand $500+ is not that much for a Hermes leather band. I am not going to pay that, but I hear it's really pretty cheap. This is a good assessment. I just purchased the Space Black SS with the sports band. If I sold the sport bad for "retail" ($50.00) I would only have $550.00 into the watch. I have a feeling, if Apple/Hermes sell the Straps separately in the future, they will be charging around $500.00+ for them. So I could see someone selling a new/unused Hermes Strap for around $350.00 fairly easy to those that only want the Strap.
The Apple Watch Hermes has the same warranty as the Edition (2 years). AppleCare+ is $99 and covers a third year. Accidental replacement cost is the same as the stainless steel ($79 per incident for 2 incidents).
Thats crazy, because the Warranty is mainly for the Watch itself more so than the Band. Apple goes out of their way when you are dealing with a Warranty Issue or Manufacturers defect, to make sure you keep the band and don't send it in for possible replacement. The Hermes is no different than the Stainless Steal other than the band, so why would they offer the 2 year warranty for the Hermes over the SS? The top versions of the SS only cost a little less than the Hermes.
The Single Tour is significantly more expensive than the SS with comparable leather band (i.e., saddle brown classic buckle). Part of that covers the longer warranty, which also covers the band should it become defective.
However, Apple will replace the stock bands if they're in fact defective. No different from them not replacing iPhone accessories under the standard warranty or AC+ unless defective.
