App to receive text messaging via Wifi @ International locations

    Basically I want to receive and send text messaging for free on my iphone in airport mode. Is there a way to direct txt messaging sent to my number to some app via Wifi to avoid charges and roaming?

    Doesn't Airplane mode also turn off the wireless radio?

    Anyways, Google Voice.

    OP wants to direct his texts to an app. Google voice doesn't do that (despite being a great alternative to regular texting).
