iPod touch app to turn off

Is there an app (pref free) that turns off the touch, i hate holding the button down and sliding. Seems faster if there was an app/button to turn off the ipod.
Does turning it off really save that much power compared to putting it in standby.

Please search, this is being discussed here. Depending upon what you have on (wifi & bt) turning it off may save some power but so little it seems not to matter.
