Apple are charging an extra £347 for a strap?

Just looking at the standard Apple Watches (not Sport or Edition), from what I can see the cheapest 42mm case is the "stainless steel case with white sport bracelet" at £512.

Moving up the line I find a nice looking one, "stainless stell case with link bracelet" at £859.

They're both 42mm stainless steel cases, just with different straps, so am I really understanding correctly that Apple are charging an extra £347 quid for a strap?

Why, yes, you are understanding that pretty spot on! Maybe not that they're "charging" that much for the strap, but definitely that the price differential is purely based on the band. Just take a gander at the shop for bands- and there you go.

    Yep, you've got it right.

Unless you've got your heart set on the official strap, buy the watch model you want with the cheapest strap and buy an after market strap that you like and use an after market adapter.

Yowzers. Think you're right then, buy the el cheapo and get a third party strap.

I have perfect clone sport bands and leather loop bands. They are almost indistinguishable from the apple originals at 1/10 to 1/5 the cost. I have an 80% space gray SS link knock-off that is very good at 1/4 the cost. I will probably not buy another Apple band.

Was this meant for this thread? It seems out of context. If this thread, did you intend to say "subtract?"

I have no clue... I didn't even look when I bought. There is a lot of MR post traffic on the Moko and lnkoo888 bands on the accessories sub-forum. Most folks are pretty happy with them. I am beyond thrilled.

I believe I will try one out. The red leather looks nice! Football season is coming and this Georgia Bulldog wants to look good!

Lucky you. I am a GT grad, and I need a bright yellow band. So far, no good ones exist.

My brother is a grad at GT. They are both great schools!

I will wear part red and part black leather loops for the games.

Hope they do a Yellow soon.

The concern I have with the silicon band is that, if it's like other silicon bands out there, it's going to be a dust magnet.

Gonna give it a go though, but IMHO the OEM Apple sports band is well worth the $50 for its comfort and the fact that it doesn't attract dust.

So long as people are stupid enough to pay the prices, Apple will continue to milk them for every last penny.

I have not noticed anything different about the Moko bands being dust magnets. It does not have the tacky surface texture. It looks and feels exactly the same as the Apple.

Another MR forum member had the same comment in the accessories sub-forum. His and the Amazon comments are a few weeks before I got my bands. I wonder if Moko changed the formula or surface finish. My Moko bands definitely do not have a "very sticky" surface, as one Amazon customer posted.

Maybe there are some other eBay sellers that will ship to the EU.

    Sorry.
