I imagine you're joking . Are you truly expecting apple to go out of business in a mere 4 years?

Remove the people/dept influencing apple to release old, mundane, buggy software & hardware because they know whatever garbage they churn out people will buy it.

Stop listening to the shareholders.

This exodus wont fix anything unless the root of the problem is addressed. What's happening is the equivalent of removing democratic politicians... they where never in control anyway...
I mean those issues aren't exactly isolated to apple sadly

It is more important to learn why people are leaving. People join Apple is not only for money. Higher paid is not the way to retain them. Clearly Tim does not understand the problem at all. He should be the one to step down as quick as possible.

Well just on the balance of things, Apple and no company can afford to outbid all their competitors for all their employs and leaders all the time. Jobs had founders bonus and the stock options re-deal of the century, but even he made more money from Pixar than he ever did from Apple because he had a much better founders bonus at Pixar, he wisely kept a greater share of ownership right up until Disney bought it.

Well gees Zuck is giving 1 billion dollars to any employee from Apple or anywhere else in the upper levels of (AI or) other companies, talk about poaching...

The complete silence regarding Craig Federighi should not be understated.

This dude is charismatic, a poignant personality, a great public speaker, and genuinely excited with his job - and there hasn’t been a single hint he’s going anywhere at 56.

Money-grabbers are often far too short-sighted to recognize the best talent doesn’t have to be the most talented.

Leaders are captains, they’re figureheads. They need to be a people person beyond anything else. They don’t need to be programmers, business analysts, politicians, designers or marketing professionals. They need to be adaptable Swiss Army knives with a purpose; a belief that what they’re doing is bigger than all of us. They need to inspire.

Didn’t another CEO say he “surrounded himself with people smarter than he is”? Apple isn’t losing its talent, it’s losing its soul. Craig is the last glimmering hope, and his utter dedication to his own role should be more than enough to earn reward as next CEO. He’s a charismatic leader people can follow.

Apple needs a leader. Not a banker. Not a programmer. A true leader.

Please... don't say silly stuff like that when I'm drinking cold milk. Not pretty...

Apple should get with the Meta program and offer Mr. Srouji a “please stay at Apple!” package.

I also lament the direction Apple’s software has gone, but Apple can’t afford to make any mistakes with their silicon!

Cook himself is thought to be likely to join the exodus and step down in the not-too-distant future. He turned 65 last month and now exhibits a noticeable, unexplained tremor in his hands. He is likely to transition to the role of chairman, rather than vacate the company entirely.
This really saddens me. I hope he will have a great retirement with many decades still ahead of him.

With regards to Johny Srouji potentially leaving. That would certainly be a blow with all he has accomplished and when a high-profile executive like that leaves they often take people from their team with them (as Jony Ive did, as Alan Dye has reportedly done and others) which would be a blow to Apple as these products aren't made by one person and it's the team as a whole that is important.

From an outside perspective it feels to me that Apple is not being competitive with their compensation packages. AI has upended the compensation offered by other tech companies because they're in a race to achieve market dominance through innovation. You need the best people for that and Apples people are largely considered the best in the technology field, Apple is where you go to change the world after all.

I don't want to harp on Apples board or Tim Cook too much but retaining talent should be a top priority especially as this trickle of departures has the potential to become a downpour.

Looking at iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS - Apple shouldn’t shed a tear to see Craig leave. The operating systems have become an eyesore to look at, and they’re full of bugs. The board would be a bunch of idiots to promote him.

I totally disagree.
Apple's stance on privacy, while not perfect, is a key advantage in the competitive landscape.
But clearly not when it comes to AI and voice assistants. It's pretty clear at this point that privacy is the reason Apple has not been able to compete on the AI and voice assistant fronts. Siri was first to market and it's an absolute joke compared to what others are doing.

Apple has had YEARS to figure out how to deliver these kinds of products while remaining true to their privacy-centric approach and they have failed miserably. Don't shoot the messenger, but it's obvious that privacy and AI aren't really compatible and this is a huge problem for Apple moving forward.

My guess is Apple employees now know Tim's time is coming to an end and would like to take that as a sign that it is time for change and as good a time as any to move on. Everyone has been extremely loyal to Tim and the company has been amazingly successful under Tim's leadership. Hope Tim is well and the medical issue hinted at is manageable.

Gurman also said apple hasnt launched a single product category in a decade! I want some of whatever gurman is somoking. If apple hasnt launched a successful product category in a decade then where does Apple Watch, Air Pods, M Series come from? Apple is the most successful Sports Watch brand in the world right now.
April 2015 is when the Apple Watch was released. That’s over a decade ago.

M series is an ARM chip. Those existed before the M series chips came out.

AirPods are a good product, but aren’t the driving force behind Apple’s success.

That’s what happens when there’s no consequences for a lack of innovation and QA.

Why would they go somewhere else when they’d be fired for screwing up constantly?

Gurman notes that "Apple hasn't launched a successful new product category in a decade," leaving it increasingly vulnerable to having its talent poached by more agile rivals

Apple should have anticipated and dominated the market for smart glasses. The thing the Meta glasses do well is that they have a decent camera (as of Gen 2, 3K resolution and full HDR) and good audio (great for discreet music playback). Coupling that with Apple’s privacy priorities and Siri should’ve been a no-brainer. That at least would’ve taken the edge off the whole “new category”/“wearable AI thing” hype. I don’t even have Meta’s 💩ty AI enabled on my Metas. I just like using them as sunglasses/headphones/occasional POV cams.
Apple doesnt need to chase every shiny thing, and have you seen how people react to being constantly filmed by smart glasses? Have you seen the cheering on the web for the woman who smashed a dude’s meta glasses on the subway a couple fays ago? Remember the “glassholes” phenomenon? Unless smart glasses are done as more than “camera on your face you can talk to” it’s not going to be positively received at all. Not a good avenue for Apple right now

A bit nitpicking given it’s only “over a decade” by a few months, but sure

Apple’s chips expose the ARM ISA but they arent ARM reference designs under the hood
AirPods are a good product, but aren’t the driving force behind Apple’s success.
I suspect they make up a rather huge percentage of profit actually, and they’re exactly the kind of halo effect product apple loves in general

I can’t use the search function in settings or Apple Mail. My keyboard does t know how to spell and has weird hallucinations skipping the “n” as seen above. Apple’s OS sucks and is only getting worse across all devices.

While the amount of departures is concerning it’s not surprising. Apple has been rudderless for a few years now. Apple Intelligence was a massive flop and even 1.5 years later there’s nothing new.

Having said all that apples roadmap is locked in for the next 2-3 years for hardware so it’ll be at least that long before we know much of anything. And by then they’ll have new talent.

The new design guy taking over for Dye seems to be universally loved and respected in Apple.

If anything this could signal a new revitalization for Apple. Peak Apple was about 7 years ago.
