I recently got a 32 inch LCD TV that I now use as my G5's monitor (as well as for watching normal TV). I figured I might as well play DVDs through my G5 on it, basically get to remove a component from the system, no longer need a DVD player. Works great as a upscaler to 1080p as well. Anyway...
My question is this, is it possible to remotely control DVD Player on my G5 from my MBP across the room? It doesn't have infrared so a physical remote won't work obviously. I'm mainly interested in a software app that can remotely control DVD Player through the network.
I remember using a similar app for iTunes, you had to enable 'Remote Apple Events' in System Preferences for it to work right.
Yes, Screen Sharing works and that's what I've been using for now. I want something I can leave open though. Screen Sharing is annoying because the quality degrades making it hard to read the text on the DVD controller, not to mention it gets scaled down to fit on screen.
